I think it was on facebook, yea, it had to be a facebook post, someone put up a youtube video of a man talking about the Rapture. He said one day millions of people will be gone from the Earth, they will be floating up to the clouds to be with God. There will be empty buses, trains, schools, offices, parks etc...millions will have simply disappeared!
BUT, wait a minute, the earthly body won't float away into the clouds, that's not reasonable, so if the spirit leaves the body to float away then the body will be left behind, millions of dead bodies empty of spirit will be littering the streets? Ewwww..... make sense to you?? Me neither...But I've been fed this story for longer than 45 yrs!
So, those who profess Jesus Christ as their Saviour get to go up in the Rapture, those who claim to be a good Christian get to miss out on the horrific Apocalypse?, how lucky for them. But what about those who never went to church as a child, never were preached to, didn't know the rules, yet lived a clean life. What if these people lived as Jesus preached, took care of the poor, the downtrodden, loved their neighbor, did not kill or commit adultery?? What about all the Third World countries who have never touched a Bible, let alone went to church to hear you must be baptised and accept Jesus as your Savior or you will be left behind? This world does stretch farther than just the USA ya know!
Then we have the End Times crowd who claim IT'S NEAR, IT'S NEAR!! Look at all the horrific things happening in the Middle East, scary Muslim stuff must mean Jesus is coming soon, right? What about the GOOD in the world, the beauty, the countries that do not live their whole lives looking for the second coming? Look at the beautiful snowcapped mountains in Switzerland, look at the green rolling hills of Ireland, look at the beautiful people and glorious lives of those all over the world, why do they have to die just because some of the world is in turmoil? Why do some people raise their families to always be looking towards the clouds, waiting waiting waiting....Little kids believing they will never get the chance to grow up and have a family of their own, because Jesus is coming SOON....
This is what I was taught, the Rapture will take those who are baptised, UNDER WATER IS A MUST, then you must accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and live a Christian life as close to pure as possible. The Anti Christ will come, then the Apocalypse, but I think after that all those who died will be raised from the grave, and those who were Raptured will come back down, then we will all live for a thousand years before the Earth is then destroyed forever...Did I get that right?? probably not....Does it all make sense? NO, but you are also taught not to question ANY of it, to believe with all your heart the Bible for it is the living word of God.....ok...,

The ME doesn't need any help destroying itself. Has nothing to do with Jesus as much as it does the Prophet Mohamed.
The wingnut-teatards have been promising for years to disappear into thin air when Jebus comes a callin' them.
Damn when the heck is it gonna happen, cause life on earth will be much pleasanter when they are gone.
Get it to heck over with all-ready.
Look at all the horrific things happening in the Middle East,
And when in the last several thousand years have there not been horrific things happening in the Middle East? In every period when a lot of people believed in the "end times", they've generally believed it was close.
Unfortunately the pestilential fundies won't be disappearing en masse any time soon.
after all those dead people rise up from their graves and all the Raptured people come back down...where are we gonna fit all of them?? Yes, I joke, sorry, it's all too weird..
I have this good friend who was raised Catholic, she said to me today the Pope stepping down scared her to death! I said WHY?? She said because it hasn't happened in over a hundred yrs, SO?? Religion is nothing but fear!
The last time a Pope resigned was actually in 1415, almost 600 years ago. He Who Zings Rats claims he's too old and weak to keep up with the job, but that didn't stop almost all previous Popes from staying in office until they dropped in their tracks.
He Who Zings Rats is up to his eyeballs in the global child-molestation cover-up. My guess is, somebody knows something really nasty and has threatened to go public with it, with evidence.
The Religious Right basically reasons like this:
You’re going to Hell because you don’t believe a bunch of derivative fairytales is true.
You’re going to writhe in unthinkable agony for all eternity because you won’t bow to their imaginary friend.
You were full of guilt and sin from the moment you were conceived and must beg their imaginary friend for forgiveness.
They want their cult in your kids school being taken as seriously if not more so than science class.
They want you to subsidize their cult by giving them money on top of the taxes they don’t pay.
They not only don’t fear Armageddon and the destruction of all that makes up our world… they actually look forward to it and would like to help it happen if possible.
But for all of that… FOR ALL OF THAT…. they contend that it’s actually YOU that are giving THEM a hard time.
see, I know nothing about religion, especially know nothing about the Catholics beyond my opinion the religion is evil...I saw on some show last night it was 600 yrs, my bad for listening to my friend who doesn't practice Catholicism anymore and is clueless to religious history like me :)
BTW, I hope you all realize this post is sarcasm and making light of religion...
LOL, Magpie, you got it right!
You’re going to writhe in unthinkable agony for all eternity because you won’t bow to their imaginary friend.
Funny how a supposedly omnipresent and omnipotent God could only come up with a scare tactic like that to get people to believe in his goodness, and follow the love he supposedly has for all of his "children".
I have two children, and there is NOTHING they could ever do that would make me want to see them in agony forever.
NOTHING.
Heck of a gawd you wingnuts believe in.
It's all about fear...
oh the big bad Catholics are going to come and get you. They are around evey corner just waiting to convert you and corrupt your children. Be afraid be very afraid!
read the links I just posted, Lisa. The evangelicals are coming for you, BE AFRAID!!
oh get over it Sue. Why don't you go volunteer for something and focus on something else. After all in the last 4 years there are so many more poor people who need help. Now there's a real fear
oh the big bad Catholics are going to come and get you.
No not really, they are too busy tryin' to hide their pedophile priests, lookin' fer a new Pope cause the last one up and quit his job, trying to claim that a feteus is a people unless it costs them money, and scamming the dead in California to pay for all the crap they hid for decades.
Naw it ain't the Catholic Church we have to fear, just brain dead right wing zombies, who thunk their "gawd" hates the rest of us.
I read a short story once. I think it was some modern-day Samuel Clemens. It was pretty funny. The day of judgment or rapture or something happened. All these dead people were climbing out of their graves. First, you meet three generations of breakfast cereal makers, the grandfather excoriates his progeny for letting the business go, but vows to start it up again. His junior points out that nobody seems to be hungry. They grumble off. Then the protagonist notices that everybody's clothes seem to be turning to dust, but nobody really cares, men, women or children. Then all the buildings begin to crumble. Soon everyone is walking a featureless landscape with nothing really to do. No physical needs, no animals, no objects or anything else to play with. The only guy he meets who seems to be happy is some crazy preacher.
Happy Darwin Day! His ideas are more powerful, real, and lasting than any religious mythology ever will be.
I don't know why Pope Ratzo resigned. Maybe the pope was pooped?
Hi, I know haven't commented for awhile, but I thought I'd stop by to let everyone know why I may never comment again. The reason being my breaking Blogger rules which could result in me being kicked off Blogger.
In regards to your post on the Rapture, Wikipedia says, "There are many views among Christians regarding the timing of Christ's return... [some] Denominations... believe in a rapture only in the sense of a general final resurrection, when Christ returns a single time. They do not believe that a group of people is left behind on earth for an extended Tribulation period...
Count me as a Christian in that group. I do not believe in the Rapture as you describe it. But, *if* it does go down that way, the faithful will be caught up body and spirit. No dead bodies left behind.
The reason for my disbelief in the Pre-tribulation rapture is because the "theology was developed in the 1830s by John Nelson Darby and the Plymouth Brethren, and popularized in the United States in the early 20th century by the wide circulation of the Scofield Reference Bible".
In other words, it's a made up interpretation. I've heard it referred to as a "revenge fantasy". Some get to go with God while the rest of us are left to suffer. I'd say this explains why the Right-wingers like it.
