Well folks, here we are once again, facing a government shutdown if President Obama's LAW, the ACA, is not on the chopping block! The teabagging caucus of obstructionist clowns are once again DEMANDING, with arms folded across chests and pacifiers in their mouths, that Congress defund Obamacare. EVEN though this is IMPOSSIBLE because it is not discretionary spending, but why let dumb facts like that stop dumb people from still DEMANDING it? Pussy faced dumb ass John Boner is caving to the baggers, he is a putrid disgrace and ALL of them need to be removed from OUR government in 2014! VOTE PEOPLE. VOTE!!!
Now for a piece of sanity....
Congressional Scholar Norm Ornstein..."What is going on now to sabotage Obamacare is not treasonous—just
sharply beneath any reasonable standards of elected officials with the
fiduciary responsibility of governing…
[T]o do everything possible to undercut and destroy its
implementation — which in this case means finding ways to deny coverage
to many who lack any health insurance; to keep millions who might be
able to get better and cheaper coverage in the dark about their new
options; to create disruption for the health providers who are trying to
implement the law, including insurers, hospitals, and physicians; to
threaten the even greater disruption via a government shutdown or breach
of the debt limit in order to blackmail the president into abandoning
the law; and to hope to benefit politically from all the resulting
turmoil—is simply unacceptable, even contemptible. One might expect this
kind of behavior from a few grenade-throwing firebrands. That the
effort is spearheaded by the Republican leaders of the House and Senate —
even if Speaker John Boehner is motivated by fear of his caucus, and
McConnell and Cornyn by fear of Kentucky and Texas Republican activists —
takes one’s breath away."
A Fox news poll finds a majority of Republicans favor the ACA over Obamacare....smfh

I suspect Boehnhead & co. felt pushed into this. Wingnut sites like RedState and Hot Air have been very entertaining to read recently, with everybody attacking this or that Republican in Congress for not being insane enough. They hardly have any energy left for hating Democrats because they're too busy hating Republicans who don't hate Democrats enough.
Now that Boehnhead has finally given in to pressure from the teabagtard base and launched an effort to use the government-shutdown threat to kill Obamacare (which he himself probably knows won't work), the loons still suspect that it's a trick and that he's still not truly committed to the holy cause of depriving poor people of insurance.
Congressional Republicans are in a tough position. If they go through with the threat and shut down the government, it won't stop Obamacare, but it will convince centrist voters that Republicans are too crazy to be kept in power. If they back down, the base will scream betrayal and the Republican party will be back in circular-firing-squad mode, destroying their own.
Boehner probably can hardly wait to retire.
My blood pressure is soaring, on a daily basis! Boner just tried to speak, he said they will fight and have no intention on giving up the fight. It's just reached the point of insanity. BUT we have seen this before and we will see it again, so I have to learn how to ignore the dumb and dumber. Wow are they dumb..
President Obama VOWED to veto any bill that defunds Obamacare. He has his heels dug in, the GOP is fucked and they know it.
RedState has a comments thread going now which is just wonderful. It's up to 109 comments at the moment and they're all turning viciously against Ted Cruz for acknowledging that it won't be possible to sustain a filibuster in support of defunding. Cruz and Boehner are passing the hot potato back and forth -- they both know they can't make defunding stick, but neither of them wants to be blamed by the teabagger base for the inevitable failure. The base has been in a state of hysterical outrage for days over this -- they're behaving like a bunch of demonically-possessed rabid pit bulls with their nuts caught in a mousetrap -- what Republican politician is going to try to reason with them? Well, they're going to get devoured in November 2014 no matter what they do now.
My employment circumstance has forced me to be a republican. That's why I must defend efforts to stop Obamacare.
Imagine a world in which employees aren't enslaved to their employers because they fear losing health insurance.
Imagine portability and not being limited by an HMO to what doctors or treatments or providers you can use.
These things would destroy America Sue. Better to stay beholden to employers and HMO's that decide if we have insurance and what it will pay for. They know best. The individual can know best on stuff like homeschooling their children and whether they are vaccinated.
