The Oath Keepers: The Militant and Armed Side of the Tea Party Movement
Meet the fast-growing "patriot" group that's recruiting soldiers to resist the Obama administration.

Pvt. 1st Class Lee Pray is saving up for has a 2,500-yard range and comes with a Mark IV scope and an easy-load magazine. It'll take plenty of military paychecks to cover the $5,600 price tag, but he considers the Bushmaster essential in his preparations to take on the US government when it declares martial law.
 His belief that that day is imminent has led Pray to a group called Oath Keepers [1], one of the fastest-growing "patriot" organizations on the right. Founded last April by Yale-educated lawyer and ex-Ron Paul aide Stewart Rhodes, the group has established itself as a hub in the sprawling anti-Obama movement that includes Tea Partiers, Birthers, and 912ers. Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, and Pat Buchanan have all sung its praises, and in December, a grassroots summit [2] it helped organize drew such prominent guests as representatives Phil Gingrey [3] and Paul Broun [4], both Georgia Republican.

 In Pray's estimate, it might not be long (months, perhaps a year) before President Obama finds some pretext—a pandemic, a natural disaster, a terror attack—to impose martial law, ban interstate travel, and begin detaining citizens en masse. One of his fellow Oath Keepers, a former infantryman, advised me to prepare a "bug out" bag with 39 items including gas masks, ammo, and water purification tablets, so that I'd be ready to go "when the shit hits the fan."
When it does, Pray and his buddies plan to go AWOL and make their way to their "fortified bunker"—the home of one comrade's parents in rural Idaho—where they've stocked survival gear, generators, food, and weapons. If it becomes necessary, they say, they will turn those guns against their fellow soldiers.

Now Pray is both a Birther and a Truther. He believes he is following an illegitimate, foreign-born president in a war on terror launched by a government plot—9/11. He admires soldiers like Army reservist Major Stefan Frederick Cook, who volunteered for a deployment last May and then sued to avoid it—claiming that Obama is not a natural-born citizen and is thus unfit for command. Pray himself had been eager to go to Iraq when his own unit deployed last June, but he smashed both knees falling from a crane rig and the injuries kept him stateside. In September, he was demoted from specialist to private first class—he'd been written up for bullshit infractions, he claims, after seeking help for a drinking problem. His job on base involves operating and maintaining heavy machinery; the day before we met, he and his fellow "undeployables" had attached a snowplow to a Humvee, their biggest assignment in a while. He spends idle hours at the now-quiet base researching the New World Order and conspiracies about swine flu quarantine camps—and doing his best to "wake up" other soldiers.

Did you lose a loved one in the Bush wars? A husband, wife, son, daughter, Dad, Uncle, friend?? Bush had the Iraq war all planned and just happened to luck out with 9/11 happening on his watch, or lack there of.....His chance to go to war, his chance to be a war president, to play GI Joe on the livingroom floor with Dickless, Condi, Rumsfeld......
Thank God I didn't suffer the loss of a loved one in this war but thousands did.  God Bless them and God Bless those who are STILL THERE!

A few friends have posted about this subject but I wanted to add this new video to the story. 
This is typical Rethug fearmongering and dirty politics when they have NOTHING to offer the voters.  Their campaign strategy of fear may have worked for them in the past but this time it's the Independents who they need and this kind of dirt will not sway them one bit.  This 72 page document has not one single idea for moving the country in a different direction, away from Obama's "socialism". They say how dangerous Obama's policies are but they offer NOTHING else to get their base to come out and vote for them! 
Get ready, this is just the beginning. Soon we will see the lies and fearmongering in the TV ads. I think the American people will tune them out and turn them OFF!

New report finds that right-wing extremist groups have grown 244 percent in the past year.

A new report by the Southern Poverty Law Center has unearthed shocking data about the rise of militias, antigovernment groups, and other right-wing extremist groups.

The number of extremist groups in the United States exploded in 2009 as militias and other groups steeped in wild, antigovernment conspiracy theories exploited populist anger across the country and infiltrated the mainstream, according to a report issued today by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
Antigovernment militias and other extremist organizations that see the federal government as their enemy – came roaring back to life over the past year after more than a decade out of the limelight.
 Their numbers grew from 149 groups in 2008 to 512 groups in 2009, an astonishing addition of 363 new groups in a single year. Militias – the paramilitary arm of the Patriot movement – were a major part of the increase, growing from 42 militias in 2008 to 127 in 2009.

Do you remember when the Department of Homeland Security warned us about theses extremist groups and how their numbers will grow after Obamas swearing in? Yea, the right cried paranoia from the left, but the proof is in and it ain't pretty. These militiamen are racists, they HATE government, but more so Obamas government. How else do you explain the rise in group numbers? 

The anger seething across the American political landscape — over racial changes in the population, soaring public debt and the terrible economy, the bailouts of bankers and other elites, and an array of initiatives by the relatively liberal Obama Administration that are seen as "socialist" or even "fascist" — goes beyond the radical right. The "tea parties" and similar groups that have sprung up in recent months cannot fairly be considered extremist groups, but they are shot through with rich veins of radical ideas, conspiracy theories and racism.
“We are in the midst of one of the most significant right-wing populist rebellions in United States history,” Chip Berlet, a veteran analyst of the American radical right, wrote earlier this year. "We see around us a series of overlapping social and political movements populated by people [who are] angry, resentful, and full of anxiety. They are raging against the machinery of the federal bureaucracy and liberal government programs and policies including health care, reform of immigration and labor laws, abortion, and gay marriage."

Oath Keepers, a Patriot outfit formed last year, suggests, in thinly veiled language, that the government has secret plans to declare martial law and intern patriotic Americans in concentration camps.

A popular Patriot conspiracy theory is the concentration camps, thanks to Glenn Beck and Michelle Bachmann for bringing it to the forefront once again. 

Timothy McVeigh, Patriot and murderer of 168 men, women and children in the Oklahoma City bombing........ I've had rightwing visitors here say the teabaggers are not racist, the rightwingers are not racist, but these radicals are adopting the ideas of the Patriots. You can see it at the tea party rallies. The racist rants against President Obama, the conspiracy theories involving the government, it's all there at the rallies and other right wing venues.


The upcoming Second Amendment March in Washington is being promoted by rightwing websites with a picture of colonial militiamen. Now, that is not being patriotic like the right likes to explain it away. The date for this march is April 19, that is the date of the first shots fired at Lexington in the Revolutionary War, and it's also the anniversary of the end of the government siege in Waco and the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.  Coincidence???

I'm gonna take a page from Truth 101 and show you what I do Monday through Thursday, this should explain why I'm not posting and visiting that much on those 4 days.

I'm a gramma to 2 and a half yr. old Amelia. She is a handful but my first priority.

She has Pop-Pops portable DVD player when I NEED to watch MSNBC, otherwise it's ELMO non-stop...

 If we're not watching Elmo then we're sitting at the kitchen table coloring, look at that concentration!

 This is her bestest friend, she calls him Tooey, sometimes Toobey.....

 What a cute kid! I'm a lucky gramma, but a busy gramma.

I do try and squeeze in some computer time, if she lets me! Look at her hand on the mouse, she's gonna be a blogger, I can tell! lol
