Happy New Year!

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year celebration! I'll be sitting home with a sick husband...he is so sick and on top of that he quit smoking 6 days ago. It's been just as hard on me if ya can believe that! :) No, he does not think that is funny...damn, the guy is one miserable son of a bitch and I'm gonna need the wine leftover from Christmas plus beer to get thru this night!  He's complaining about the TV programing, the food we don't have, my cooking, anything and everything! He wants pancakes for breakfast cuz he hates my fried eggs, I can't cook an egg to save my life, never could he says...Well sorry buddy, we have NO pancake mix!  I was told to order a pizza because my hamburgers are not juicy, or something to that effect....oh well, pizza, beer, wine, chips, dip, cheese, crackers, and a crabby old man...Happy New Year to ME!! :)  AND TO YOU!!

You'd think just about everybody would know that nobody really blogs over Christmas!

Oh gosh, Sue, good thing your husband isn't married to ME! I don't cook at.all! He'd be jonesing for a cig AND food! But wish him good luck from me--a smoker! You hang tough!

Happy New Year to you and your family, Sue. I wish you a very happy and healthy 2012!

Happy New Year, Sue. Here's to a productive 2012 filled with peace and love. heh, heh, heh!

A neighbor just let me try one of his e-cigs. I highly recommend them for your hubby to help him get through the withdrawal. It'll be easier for him while making your life more tolerable.

Happy New Year Pam! You should quit smoking :)...but like thehusband says, I don't know his pain, and he is right, but when you have COPD you would think he'd be fighting like mad. It is is life at risk afterall! I'm just joking in the post too, I don't really call him an SOB and when he complains about my cooking thru all his pain I just smile...Today it's ham and cabbage for dinner, wonder if he'll eat it...

Sue said...

Happy 2012 L! I wish all good things for you too!

What the hell is an e-cig??

Electronic cigarettes are battery operated. Check 'em out on Google - you can usually find someone locally who seels them - probably at a service station.

Sue said...

He said he know what they are but doesn't want to try them...he likes being miserable I guess :)

Jerry Critter said...

Smoking is kind of like been a conservative. You know they is bad for you and will shorten your life, but it is hard to quit.

"been" should be "being"

He has to quit Jerry, he has COPD. This pill he takes causes him to be moody, have thoughts of dying, hopelessness...we need to tell the dr about these thoughts, but the pill helps with the COPD flair ups, so I don't know ...hopefully the symptoms will subside..

Leslie Parsley said...

You need to tell the doc anyway. I have a younger cousin with COPD. She's always saying she wishes she'd never lit up. It is very hard to quit. I did it once for ten years - cold turkey. I had swings too. They say the second time you try to do a major quit is even harder, which is why i'm considering those ecigs. Better than nothing and a lot less harmful.

Jerry Critter said...

As an ex-smoker myself, I understand how difficult it is to quit, BUT he has to. He is killing himself. There is no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

And while I am on my soapbox, Leslie, what is your excuse? I disagree. E-cigs are not better than nothing ... Nothing being NOT SMOKING!

Sue said...

He hasn't had a cigarette since last Friday...But damn he'd kill for one right now! Mom quit cold turkey last May and was not miserable like he is!

He knows he must do this, and I know how hard it is, but I do believe cold turkey is the best way. He needs lots of will power, men are such babies under less stressful situations, so you can imagine! I'm avoiding him at all costs lately..:)

I got used to using the patch step two. Eventually I got to the point where I never used step one or step three. Just the good solid 14mg/day, which is actually a fairly good buzz for the mind and limbic system. When I finally quit for good, I stayed on the patch for nearly three months before I was ready to wean myself. Just put one on day after fucking day.

Leslie, you can't be serious about e-cigarettes. It might be an improvement, but it couldn't possibly be safe.

Sue said...

good for you FJ, and how long has it been?

Leslie Parsley said...

On the contrary, Sue. They are very safe. Mostly water vapor.

Here's a Wiki article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_cigarette

Just Google e cigs or e cigarettes.

Sue said...

I'll read about them L, thanks. If he needs a crutch at least we'll be informed.
