Tan Man gives the Republican weekly address...

"Despite some recent signs of life, our economy still isn't creating enough jobs. And one of the reasons for that is the spending binge that's been going on here in Washington."
"Washington's inability to get spending under control is creating uncertainty for our job creators."

When will businesses STOP feeling UNCERTAIN??  It certainly sounds  RIDICULOUS to
keep saying there is uncertainty in the  business sector, even after facts and numbers are pointing to an upswing in our economy. But they can't seem to get it together,  they find it scary to trust  President Obama and his policies!  They are just not certain enough to start hiring, after all it might help President Obama if the unemployment numbers kept dropping and dropping....and dropping......

Poor Speaker Boehner, he's having a real tough time .....

If you must, you can watch Boehner here.

There's uncertainty because households aren't spending enough of their income, because no one is hiring, and wages are lower, which causes people to save more. Consumer spending has been on the rise though, slowly. It's the paradox of thrift; the only way to get past this is with some kind of stimulus. By extending the Bush era tax cuts, or we were supposed to stimulate the economy by putting more money in the pockets of people who normally would have been taxed a lot (rich people, corporations), but all it did was give a bunch of rich people (higher marginal propensity to save), that already have everything they need, more money to save or put into investment savings for retirement etc. ...neither helps us out here. We need consumer spending! Only 1/4 of people making under 50k a year benefitted from these cuts, and they are the ones most likely to spend (higher marginal propensity to consume). Now we need more stimulus, or we can wait it out, depending on what school of economic philosophy you buy into...

Republicans still believe Hooveromics can work! If only Herbert had won a second term instead of being defeated by that crummy FDR, everybody would know now that Obama's socialism was doomed to fail.

FDR actually caused the Great Depression to last longer than it otherwise would have... or at least that's what they claim.

Poor Junket John. Making the guy try to give a coherent response while drunk off his ass is almost a cruelty.

I just find it totally laughable for ANY Republican to stand before a microphone and say, "our economy still isn't creating enough jobs." As if they've done anything at all to create jobs or improve the economy. They've been far too busy busting unions, screwing women (and men), killing SS and Medicare, stripping funding of PBS and NPR, deregulating Wall Street, and, in general, killing every gain this country has made in the last 50 years. In fact, aren't they the ones who got us into this mess in the first place? Who in their right mind would trust this bunch of crooked cretans?

By succesfully delaying the humiliation and downfall of Mark (Are you rock yet?) Foley, John Böhner is considered the father of the Böhner doctrine, "It's OK if you are a republican." Although he was unable to save the career of Foley, his actions and sympathy for the sexually frustrated paved the way for other humiliated and scandalized republicans to stay in office despite illegal and desperately embarassing sexual pecadillos, notably Larry (Wide Stance) Craig and David (Powder Me!) Vitter. Without Böhner's pioneering efforts we would not have these valuable republicans in office today. There is even a chance that their vacancies might have been filled with democratic politicians. For this spirit of party over the rule of law we are eternally grateful to John Böhner, an American statesman for the twenty-first century.

what else it there to say, the Republicans are just worthless, they can't govern, know nothing about governing, and need to just shut up while Democrats fix the mess those morons left for us.

The GOP took over the House in January and promptly worked on JOBS! JOBS! JOBS! as they PROMISED the American people.

And so the first thing they did was have a meaningless vote on repealing the ACA, then went after Planned Parenthood and NPR.

JOBS! JOBS! JOBS!

Mr. Weeper. Where are the JOBS?!

And keep in mind these despicable liars and their compatriots in the statehouses of WI, MI, IN, NJ, ME, AND FL.

We here knew that their rhetoric about Mr. Obama during the 2010 campaign was full of sound and fury and signified nothing.

GOP: The Party of ZERO ideas.

the only 'job' the Republicans have created is when they unzip and tell the public to 'blow'. Not having a charitable moment....

HA! lisa admits her party has NO ideas, therefore they are stupid!

Lisa, At least you're woman enough to admit the GOP doesn't have a clue. They have no ideas at all, and yet they DEMANDED the economic crisis be fixed seconds after, Obama took office. It was as if they had some secret master plan to fix it all that they weren't going to unravel until getting elected into Congress. Well here they are, in Congress, and we were all anticipating this wonderful secret plan, and now we know what it is. NOTHING! That's what republicans believe in when it comes to the economy, or the "free market," per se. No government intervention. Rich people will do all right, and that's all they care about. No stabilization policy for those who are suffering, but don't worry guys, if the republicans keep doing nothing, the economy will, eventually, bounce back...in theory... I mean it worked wonders with Hoover when he did it....

Being the open minded one around here I must inform everyone of the sound logis Boehner exhibits in regards to morality and sexual indiscretions.

He stays so damn drunk he can't get (how's this for irony) a boner and be tempted by the seamier stuff.

Drunken impotence has saved many a marriage and political career. Missouri senator Kit Bond is one who lived this.

@ Lisa, spending is the key to ending a recession, but of course, with all the bills the GOP is currently trying to put forth in their own states, no one but the richest of the rich, which I'm assuming is a group you do not belong to, will have anything left to spend. It will all be in the pockets of greedy Corporate Executives. If you think Pelosi and Co. and the reason we are supposedly "bankrupt" you must be a troglodyte.

Are you sure about that GCP? I dont' know what the point of having an affair is if you're suffering from drunken impotence.

Just more hyperbolic crap.

@ RN, What crap do you speak of, and exactly what is hyperbolic about it?

JoMala "Truth 101" Kelly said...

I notice the litle things that others think don't matter WD.

Didn't you see when Pelosi passed the big gavel to Boehner he never once tried to peek down her blouse? The man isn't right.

This, despite the obvious phallic symbol big gavel.

Shaw Kenawe said...

RN, why are you astroturfing?

You left the same exact comment at my blog, when my blog had nothing to do with Boehner.

Are you frequenting all liberal blogs and saying everything is hyperbolic crap?

Anonymous said...

Actually, if I was Boehner I would have got up and said, "...well, since WE republicans in the house have started tackling the big issues of wasteful government spending unemployment has gone down thus we HAVE created jobs..."

I suspect that the republicans will use that as we get closer to the 2012 elections...

They can tie cutting spending to drops in the unemployment rate and rally their base real quick.

What will the democrats come back with? That it was the extension of the Bush era tax cuts that led to the drop in unemployment?

Of which the republicans come back with, "Yeah! Bush was a republican!"

Then what say ye democrats?

If you gonna win elections you better have a response to that one.

"Lisa" comments here?

Her blog was having a racist fest, encouraging her commenters to post the most racist African-American jokes they could think of, and she comes here and says everything is crap?

O the humanity!
