Lil Scotty Walker has been pitting "The Tax Payers" against the Teachers. Somewhere I read today that Teachers pay more taxes than corporations in Wisconsin. I just can't take the stupidity of the right side of Wisconsin...so I garden. ;)

The courts decision is a reflection of the conservative nature of the court (and its mystery judge victory) and is not a representation of the American people, or the History of the American experience.
The activists in the streets, are what we need more of, or things will get worse.

We have not stopped fighting like "Nazi" Walker thought we would...BUT, if we lose all the Recall elections and can't get the signatures needed to Recall Scotty I am afraid we will give up.
We needed Feingold to step up and get involved and he did. The Senates loss will hopefully be ours states gain!

I am optimistic that we will see multiple republican recalls in the near future. I do believe they are digging their own graves. You know... If you give someone enough rope.... I still have faith that the crazies have not yet completely brainwashed everyone, but then again, think about who I am around all day every day. I spend all day on campus !
great points Tom, We need to get organized across the country in a huge way like Wisconsin is doing. I know there are more of us and it is our duty to get out there for change. It is up to us cuz it sure as hell is NOT happening in Washington, from either party!

Will it's perfectly okay to say "FDR might well have", I don't think it's far fetched to surmise. People change their minds all the time, so do politicians, that's a good thing.

Will and the commenter who was deleted are wrong about FDR. We don't need to guess regarding what FDR might believe today... we can look to what he said in the past. FDR believed that "organizations of government employees have a logical place in government affairs".
The Con argument that FDR was anti-union is totally specious. I wrote about this on my blog with a post titled, "Tearing Down FDR". In my post I also agree with Leslie Parsley who said that FDR's position would most likely be different today.
As for this ruling... I hope Scott's victories are short-lived and he is recalled at the earliest opportunity.

Government stood with the workers in FDR's day. Today that is very much NOT the case. FDR would be horrified by the war against labor the modern-day Republicans are waging.

No, they CANNOT engage in collective bargaining. And you know who else thought that? George Meany, Mayor Laguardia, and Jimmy Carter. They were ALL against collective bargaining for municipal workers.

This clearly says to me that collective bargaining CAN be transplanted in the public service in a way modified from AS USUALLY UNDERSTOOD.
My conclusion is that YOU'RE WRONG and that FDR did support some form of collective bargaining rights for government employees. What he objected to was government workers going on strike (see my blog for the details).
