My Life....

Did you all have a nice Christmas day?  I want to thank all my friends who came by to wish me a Merry Christmas and apologize for not visiting your blogs.  And to ALL my friends in blogland I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

My Life... it's gonna be sooooo different from this day forward.  My 80 yr old mother has begun to move in with me......

We had this stairglide installed a few weeks ago... this is what it looks like.....

this is the big ugly intrusive  rail the big ugly chair glides on .....(she is right here looking at what I write, so NO, she is not offended, LOL. She still has to walk up another 4 steps once she gets to the first landing so my brother has to come and install a railing for her to hang onto so I don't have to go up the steps with her every single time....the woman has to pee like every friggin half hour....

Yup she is moving in, her cat too. I bought a new litter box and scooper, bag of litter at the dollar store yesterday, the cashier asked if someone was getting a new kitty for Christmas, I said no, my mom is coming for the weekend and bringing her cat....She has her basket of meds, and paper, pens, lotions, meds, meds and more meds sitting on my usually bare clean kitchen table, her walker, her tub chair, her nebulizer(?) machine.....ALL her STUFF, it's coming here....well most of it will go in storage because I have a small house. One bathroom too which does not please her, but can't help that. She insists she needs her walker to walk 10 feet to the bathroom 2 or 3 times during the night. Poor husband heard it all, but I sleep with earplugs so I didn't....

She stays up late and wants me to keep her company, she keeps the TV on half the night, the volume way too loud.  But I have my earplugs in.......

She is a political junkie like me so we can watch MSNBC all day and evening without getting on each others nerves. I can blog on the computer that is in the bedroom she'll be taking over and she doesn't mind because I'm good company. I'll be calling the cable company to have the computer hooked up downstairs this coming week though because I thought Santa would get me a laptop for Christmas, but so far it ain't happenin'.

 Today was our first day, I cooked ALL day practically non-stop. Company in and out, presents to open, wine to drink, my son and his girl got engaged.....yup they surprised me with that news when just yesterday he called to say he was leaving her....

My Life from this day forward will be so different, but I'm looking forward to it. I am blessed to have my mother here, have her spend time with her great grand daughter will be so nice too. She's happy, I'm happy, all is well here in New Jersey.....

Oh BTW, did I mention a blizzard is coming through tonight? They say 12 to 18 inches of glorious SNOW, YAY!! I'm a happy girl, easy to please too.....

I hate to be so pessimistic, but I REALLY doubt the Republicans have the stick-to -it-ness and the gut instincts to carry all of your great ideas out. The Republican Party is way too genteel to street fight, which is what is needed. All you hear out of them is "our friends on the other side" junk. The Repbs need to be able to get down and dirty and call things as they are. As a group, they have NEVER known how to fight with no holds bared! They don't know how to fight like the Dems do. It's about time they learned, but will they!?!

Merry Christmas to one and all. A word of caution, Congressman Darrell Issa it has been reported recently, has visited the White House several times in the last few weeks -- WHY--? He is not going to do what so many of you wish for, that is , lay waste to the BARRY Regime, after all he is from !!?where. A first class Rhino if I ever saw one. all talk, no do and the perfect Republican blue Blood who will do or say anything to go along to get along with the democrats. Do not raise your expectations. The Republicans will blow it within 6 months when the 'new' ones have been' educated' into the washington system. When you have a 'leader' who crys at the drop of a hat what on earth can we expect from this lot --exactly nothing-- Barry will rule as though the Republicans are not even there, thier Majority will mean nothing in short order, because no one in the party has any GUTS to FIGHT this very real war for the very survival and heart of this country. Where Are our Fighters ? Where Is Our Ideology ? Certainly not in this Republican Party.
As we approach 2012 who will be our candidate? Well we already know that dont we, aw shucks, it 's mittens Romney why? -- Because the lame stream media has already selected him for us ( even the Economist) and we would not want to disappoint them now , would we! Plus the Blue Bloods think he's just the perfect ticket because he is NEXT in line . HE will LOSE magnificently for the party of yesterday. No problem nothing to see here, move along now , to 2016 , if we still have a Republic by then. What we need to do is recognize that there is one true American Republican Fighter amongst us, a true believer in Americas exceptionalism. One of us not one of them. SARAH PALIN 2012. START treaty game playing

It's ALL about politics and Obama wins (or losses). That is ALL the Republicans care about. Even going as far as putting their offensive, repulsive, and jealous feelings about our brown skinned intelligent president before our country's national security. They are disingenuous in their arguments whether or not they will vote to ratify the START treaty.  This is political showmanship, GOP grandstanding. They want this treaty ratified when the GOP has a majority in the House of Representatives, that's how pathetically stupid they are. Do they think the American people will then say wooohoooo the GOP did something great!! Yes, that's how stupid Mitch McConnell is...

 Republicans are whining about amendments, well 2 amendments proposed by the Republicans have been defeated. Now what?  More amendments to drag this on? And what if an amendment was agreed upon, it means this, "Any change in the language or substance of the pact would require reopening negotiations with Russia, effectively killing the agreement". So there you have it. The GOP is hell bent on killing this treaty, OR they want the credit for it getting done when they take the House. 

Get on with it Harry Reid. Stop this relentless game playing by those thugs! I'm a C-Span junkie, but listening non-stop to the Democrats on the floor trying to convince the GOP this treaty needs voted on NOW, is just ridiculous! JUST VOTE! FUCK THEM!

DADT

John McCain tried again this morning, one last ditch effort to stop the repeal of DADT. He began his speech by slamming the “bizzaro world” that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) inhabited, and accused Democrats of trying to “jam through” the remaining items — START, the DREAM Act and repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell — on an agenda that was “absolutely repudiated” on November 2. “Everything we’re doing is completely ignoring that message,” McCain said. “Maybe it will require another election.”

Why do these republicans keep saying that? They have it ALL wrong! This DADT repeal was something 8 in 10 Americans favored, yet McCain still says the people have spoken, they do not want DADT repealed. What planet does he live on??  77% of Americans were for this repeal. The support cut across partisan and ideological lines with majorities of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, liberals, conservatives and white evangelical Protestants in favor of homosexuals serving openly. Imagine that John McCain...

 In his final act of protest, McCain called it "a very sad day", and imagined a successful vote would lead to "high fives all over the liberal bastions of America". What a disgraceful bigot he is...

 With all his ranting on the Senate floor, whining and crying to the cameras, he said,  “I hope that when we pass this legislation that we will understand that we are doing great damage,”  and we could possibly and probably, as the commandant of the Marine Corps said, and as I have been told by literally thousands of members of the military, harm the battle effectiveness vital to the survival of our young men and women in the military.”

He and other opponents of lifting the ban said the change could harm the unit cohesion that is essential to effective military operations, particularly in combat, and deter some Americans from enlisting or pursuing a career in the military. They noted that despite support for repealing the ban from Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates and Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, other military commanders have warned that changing the practice would prove disruptive.
This is all about bigotry. These homophobes are clearly thinking about sex! They can't fathom gay men in a fox hole or in a shower room with straight men! I don't know if it scares them or just makes them queasy!


 "Christians" are outraged and are demanding a theocratic repeal of today's vote.  Matt Staver of Liberty Counsel, along with a coalition of anti-gay Christian hate groups (i.e., American Family Association, Family Research Council; Liberty Counsel, Liberty Alliance Action, Vision America, The Oak Initiative, The Call to Action, Concerned Women for America, High Impact Leadership Coalition, Campaign for Working Families, Conservative Action Project, Traditional Values Coalition, and others), who today signed on to a letter vowing to force the next Congress to reverse today's repeal of DADT, American Family Association hate group radio host Byran Fischer, and of course, the Klan loving Tony Perkins of FRC.


The vote was 65 to 31. Eight Republicans voted in favor, Scott Brown, Mark Kirk, Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Lisa Murkowski, Richard Burr, George Voinovich, and John Ensign.

President Obama issued a statement saying it was "time to close this chapter" in the nation's history.

"It is time to recognize that sacrifice, valor and integrity are no more defined by sexual orientation than they are by race or gender, religion or creed," he said. "It is time to allow gay and lesbian Americans to serve their country openly."

AMEN

Alot of those 6,000 earmarks are coming from the hypocrite party

 Now seriously, I don't have a beef with the earmark. Some earmarks are actually good for the states. But the GOP has decided with the help of the teabaggers to denounce earmarks and accuse the democrats of being king of pork.
Harry Reid was forced to drop the omnibus bill because 9 GOP'ers decided they must listen to the teabaggers and vote against the bill when previously they said they would vote for it. Fiscal conservatives are calling this a victory. They are such hypocrites! 6,000 earmarks totaling 8 billion dollars had GOP support until they found out teabaggers would go so far as ousting any Senator who voted yes on the measure. Boy those baggers are dead serious aren't they? Except when it comes to stuff like the tax cuts for the rich not being paid for, oh and the 2 wars which are breaking us....
The fiscally conservative Club for Growth predicted that any Republican who voted for the $1.1 trillion spending measure would face a primary challenge ahead of the 2012 elections. Too funny!

Mitch McConnell stood on the Senate floor and actually had the nerve to say members on his side of the aisle had concerns about the way Washington is doing business. This man is a total hypocrite.

Wow that is too funny! Come on, the American people aren't stupid! We know Republicans love their pork as much as Democrats! This is hilarious...Just GOOGLE earmarks and see who is loving the pork.

Mr. Reid said that with the failure of the $1.1 trillion spending bill, the only option left would be to pass another short-term measure, called a continuing resolution, which allows the government to continue spending at last year's levels.
Mr. Reid said he would work with Mr. McConnell (R., Ky.) over the next 24 hours to determine the length of a new, short-term spending measure.

To fund the government, Senate Republicans have offered a two-month spending bill that would expire on Feb. 18. By then, the GOP will have assumed control of the House and picked up several seats in the Senate.
The GOP leadership believes that would allow Republicans to influence the levels at which the federal government is funded for the rest of the year. Republicans say they want to roll back funding to fiscal 2008 levels, which they say would save $100 billion over the next decade.


Good luck United States of America. The GOP and the teabaggers are ready to act fiscally responsible....Yea right LOL!!

Is Obama About to Sell Us Out on Social Security? The Political Fallout Would Be Devastating

Obama has signaled that he might include Social Security cuts as part of a grand deficit-reduction deal. If that occurs, expect civil war among the Democrats.

When the right congratulates Obama for winning, you know he is losing. For starters, the proposed compromise isn't much of an economic stimulus. If the deal passes Congress, taxpayers will be paying the same income tax rates in 2011 and 2012 as in 2010. No stimulus there.

The only real stimulus is the temporary cut in Social Security taxes, the extension of unemployment insurance plus a few minor tax breaks for regular people, totaling about $200 billion. That's a little more than one percent of a $15 trillion economy. Pretty puny, certainly a lot smaller than the inadequate stimulus of February 2009 when the recession was only beginning to deepen.

Except for the extension of unemployment insurance, which should be done out of common decency, most of the "stimulus" is pure Republican ideology -- stimulate the economy by cutting taxes. If that had worked, the huge tax cuts of the Bush years would have kept the economy out of recession.

A Democratic president with strong progressive principles and political nerve would have taken his party into the mid-term election pledging never to cut Social Security and daring Republicans to take a similar pledge. Instead, Obama appointed a deficit commission with a majority of appointees wanting to cut the Democrats' signature program -- thus blurring party differences on the Democrats' biggest political winner.

I used to be an optimistic person, believing the Democratic Party was the party for middle America. I feel myself turning into a cynical, fearmongering doom and gloomer and I HATE IT! But what are we supposed to think when we read things like this article? All you need to do is look at this Obama/ McConnell tax cut bill to see the GOP destruction that is about to happen. It feels very much like President Obama knows what kind of deal he struck and it all really doesn't matter.....

Bush-era tax cuts extended for the rich,  payroll tax reduction; estate tax exemption level at $5 million, unemployment benefits extensions that do not help the 99ers.....the wool has been pulled over our heads.

I can now confidently say I hate this bill....UPDATED

I'm a progressive and I'm in agreement with MoveOn.org....

I know alot of people are concerned about the unemployment benefits expiring so therefore think they need to side with the president on this HUGE tax cut and spending bill. Not only does MoveOn believe the #1 problem is the cut in payroll tax, making it a trap for Democrats, I think the whole damn thing is a trap. I do not buy the argument the bill is the best Democrats could get from those Republicans. I believe the worst parts of this legislation won't be felt immediately, but rather in the near future as the GOP continues their fight to make the tax cuts permanent and their plan to destroy Social Security. This is not 2003,  I don't know if the will of the people can actually fight the evil machine that is the Republican Party. That's my opinion and I'm comfortable with it....

Problem #1: The deal is a stealth attack on Social Security.The deal will lower the payroll tax—the tax that funds the Social Security trust. This is a trap for Democrats. Republicans have been coming after Social Security for years and this cut is the biggest threat to the vital program in decades. It will cut one-third of Social Security's funding this year alone and when we need to restore the payroll tax back to its current level, Republicans will cry "tax increases" and could gut it permanently. ¹ 

Problem #2: For nearly one in three workers, it's a tax increase.Nearly 50 million working Americans—including all workers making less than $20,000 per year—and millions of federal, state, and municipal workers will see their taxes go up because of the deal.² 

Problem #3: The deal has not one but TWO millionaire bailouts.In addition to extending all the Bush income tax breaks for the top 2%, the deal will slash the estate tax. If Congress did nothing, next year the estate tax would be 55% and apply to everyone inheriting $1 million or more. But the deal reduces it to 35% and only people who inherit more than $5 million will have to pay. This second bailout will give a gigantic tax giveaway to a few thousand of the richest families in the country and add hundreds of billions to the national debt.³

 Problem #4: Unemployment help is insufficient and inadequate.While the deal extends unemployment benefits for another 13 months for people currently receiving it, millions of unemployed workers who've struggled the most and been out of work more than 99 weeks—since the giant Wall Street banks wrecked the economy—will get no help at all under the deal.⁴ It's a gamble that there will be jobs in the next 13 months when the insurance runs out, but the tax cuts will go well beyond that. Better to just pass a stand-alone unemployment extension to help all struggling Americans.

Problem #5: Tax giveaways to the rich are a terrible way to create jobs.Tax breaks for the rich are the least efficient way to create jobs and help the economy grow. In fact the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says extending all tax cuts would lower unemployment only 0.1% to 0.3% over the next year⁵ and that the cost of the tax deal would be $900 billion over the next five years.⁶

 The Senate passed the tax bill today,

The first priority for many Democrats who want to alter the bill is changing the estate tax provision in the bill. The president agreed to a request from Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) that would allow estates worth up to $10 million to be exempt from paying any taxes at all with estates worth more taxed at just 35 percent.
House Democrats passed a bill a year ago that would exempt estates only up to $3.5 million and taxing them after that at 45 percent and they are fighting to insert that language into this bill. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) is leading the effort to change the Senate provision. He calls it "egregious" and says that it won't create jobs and adds "15 billion dollars to the deficit and benefits just 6,600 families a year." Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.), who offered the amendment, says he think it will get a vote.
But now Democrats also want to change other items that were supposed to be sweeteners for Democrats like the 13 month extension of unemployment benefits and the two-year payroll tax holiday that cuts everyone's social security taxes by 2 percent.
On unemployment insurance, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) says that it should be extended from 13 months to two years so that it is not seen as less important than the two-year extension of tax cuts for the wealthy. He admitted last night after talking with the president over the phone that it's a delicate balance.
"Right now it's a question of how much can be changed without ruining the president's efforts to get this thing through" Cummings said.

On the payroll tax holiday, members like Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) argue that the one-year payroll tax holiday would force the government to borrow money to make up for the losses in the Social Security Trust Fund, that the tax cut would likely never expire and that it would jeopardize Social Security's solvency. "I plan to present an amendment asking that the payroll tax provision is stricken from the bill" Doggett said.
If any of the amendments or changes pass the House, the bill would have to pass the Senate again and its passage could be in doubt just over two-weeks from all the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and the middle class expiring.
While the loudest Democrats oppose many of the provisions in the Senate-passed bill, there is support for the measure among fiscally conservative Blue Dog Democrats. Thirty-one House Democrats sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi last night asking her to quickly schedule a vote, put aside partisan differences, and "act to send it directly to the president's desk without delay."
If those members vote against changing the tax bill, along with most Republicans, it will be very difficult for House Democrats to change the bill.
Opposition among Republicans also mounted today, with Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) heading to the House floor first thing to announce his opposition to the package. His objection? That unemployment insurance provisions are unpaid for and that the tax cuts are not permanent so they will not help businesses plan.
"Uncertainty is the enemy of our prosperity" Pence said. "Frankly, we can provide assistance to people struggling in this economy by making the hard choices to pay for it without adding to the national deficit."

CDM takes no shit!

Check out fellow blogger and friend Complaint Department Managers post about a run-in with a conservative that started out funny, then turned pathetically sad.  The old geezer uses his military service as a sorta badge of honor, but there is NO honor in the things he says about President Obama and the office of the president. If this guy is so proud of his service and his conservative views then he needs to take a step back and examine his heart, he misplaced it!  He has no respect for our president and no respect for anyone who does not share his faith, military standing and party affiliation. I wonder if he respected Dubya?

my head is exploding...

Last night at midnight I had a "jumping off the Obama bandwagon" post all prepared. I'm glad I decided to wait til I could gather my thoughts and think somewhat clearer before I clicked that publish button. My bloggy friends here are as divided on this tax cut legislation as the democratic party is. So whatever I say here will be hated by some and agreed upon by others. I have decided I will stand with President Obama.

That doesn't mean I agree 100% with this bill,  I think what Bernie Sanders said in the filibustering speech could help fix some of the things progressives have a problem with, like the estate tax, tax cuts for the rich, So


ABOVE..That was yesterdays work on this 4th draft, and above that was 2 days ago...I can't think straight this week for some reason. All kinds of talk being thrown around, different opinions being tossed around, Obama, Clinton, Sanders...I'm jealous of those who have made up their minds and stand by their convictions. I'm floundering and wobbling....

This morning I'm back to my original opinion on Obama and the legislation. I think the rethuglicans have taken him to the woodshed on this proposed bill that he calls a framework. I believe it is another massive stimulus that will only empower the thugs next year. They have it all planned out, they will take their case to the Americans on this bloated deficit problem, which they have contributed to BTW, and they will start with entitlements, mainly Social Security. They are on the path to wipe out SS and Obama seems oblivious to this. Bringing in Bill Clinton yesterday to give credibility to the presidents proposals was to me a sign of desperation. The public is not happy with the way Obama crafted this bill on the laps of the rethuglicans, so he presumes Bill Clinton can calm the fears and convince the people this legislation is the best he can do at this moment. So by giving the GOP their demands  the democrats are adding their demands to the point this bill is exploding the deficit at a time we are trying to get it under control. 

The only person I see with any common sense and clear thinking is Bernie Sanders.....during his 8 hour speech he faulted the payroll tax holiday calling it a dangerous step that could hurt Social Security and also spoke on the "overly generous proposal" on the estate tax which would be reinstated at a rate of 35% on everything above the first 5 million of an individuals estate and everything above the first 10 million of a couples estate, He said "this is not a tax on the rich, this is a tax on the very, very, very rich"

He has it right when he screams CHINA, CHINA, CHINA!!!

"See, politicians are, to borrow the now politically correct Jerry Brown word, whores. They can be bought. And the Republicans, in particular, are cheap whores at that.
There will be something for everyone in this bill–this is the Stimulus that Obama should have put forth to begin with but instead paid off the states and parasitic unions and states instead. This stimulus might actually jolt the economy while spending the next generation into abject oblivion.
It had to be done NOW, though, because the party is over for the Republicans and Democrats. Come January, the American people will be angered if they see Republicans spend like this.
This bill will get a bunch of them primaried again. They. Don’t. Care.
Just like the Democrats didn’t care about Obamacare. The Republicans are hoping you don’t notice what they’re doing here. And they’ll try and blame the Democrats.
They can say the bill passed in the lame duck Congress if the economy still stays bad. If the economy turns around, well, they can say they forced the Democrats to pass the bill. They also hand Obama the Presidency, but hey, this is all about Right Now.
Expedient and indulgent, our elected officials are a disgusting group.

Another typical day in the life a Rethuglican. Even after President Obama gave them what they wanted in the tax cut extensions, the rethuglicans came back today and stopped the Democrats efforts to give an eeeensy teeensy weeeensy $250.00 check to seniors, Social Security recipients who will face 2 years now without a cost of living increase. Well, hell sure Obama and dems urged Congress to approve this, saying seniors are facing hardship without their increases. I guess that's all the rethugs had to hear before throwing down the gavel!  NO MORE INCREASES FOR YOU!!  OFF with their heads, Damn it! Those damn lazy seniors, how dare they say they need a cost of living increase EVERY YEAR!!  Don't they know we have a deficit problem? Don't they know we need to extend tax cuts to the filthy rich so it can trickle down?? How ungrateful of those seniors, they got a SIGNIFICANT increase in '09!!
I'm gonna check with my poor elderly mother tomorrow incase I need to make a correction, but I think she got $16.00. That my friends is sixteen dollars a month raise. Wow stop the presses..... So because of this astronomical raise, unfortunately the resluglicans opposed another raise this year and next.  I guess that makes them deficit hawks. I think it makes them chicken livers I want to feed to my cats...


The measure was brought up under a fast-track procedure in the House that required a two-thirds majority for passage. The 254-153 vote in favor of the bill fell short of that.Twenty-six Republicans voted for the bill, while 141 opposed it. Democrats were in favor, 228-12.

The Compromiser

In the final question of today's press conference, President Obama was asked by Jonathan Weisman of the Wall Street Journal how he would respond to Democrats who think he's compromised too much in agreeing on a two-year extension of all the Bush-era tax cuts -- even for the wealthiest Americans -- and that they have a hard time figuring out his core principles on what issues he would go to the mat for. Obama then responded forcefully, saying that the positions of such people on the left would result in getting nothing done, except having a "sanctimonious" pride in the purity of their own positions.

"Sanctimonious pride in the purity of their own positions"......Sounds like conservative republicans to me. President Obama is describing republicans. Yes indeed the republicans take pride in the purity of their positions and they fight with everything they have. WHY is it wrong for democrats to fight? Why is it wrong for democrats to be arrogant and show a forceful pride in their core beliefs? They seem to fear the big fight against the big bad republicans.

President Obama says he will visit the tax cut extension for the rich in 2012. That is a joke! No way will he put himself in that position during a campaign....
Democratic caucuses are meeting tonight and again tomorrow. The shit is hitting the fan, stay tuned, this is far from over...

The Deal.........but is it Done?

So, I have surprised myself, I'm feeling more numb than angry.  President Obama just spoke on the tax cut extension decision.  ALL tax cuts are to be extended, he has agreed to extend ALL because of Republican DEMANDS. The Republicans were willing to allow unemployment benefits to run out for 2 MILLION people, they were willing to allow MILLIONS of Americans taxes to go up by $3,000 in January. They demanded permanent tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires but got a temporary 2 year extension, and in exchange for the extension of ALL tax cuts the Republicans have agreed to extend unemployment benefits for 13 months. How giving of them.....

Other details include a temporary two percent reduction in payroll taxes to replace Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit from the 2009 stimulus bill, and a compromise on the estate tax, which will be set for two years at 35 percent, with a $5 million exemption amount.

This is the presidents compromise with Democrats and Republicans, but according to Bernie Sanders there might not be 60 votes. Bernie says he intends to work hard to make sure there are not 60 votes to pass this piece of legislation.  What will happen then? Who will get the blame if the vote fails and taxes go up on the middle class, and more importantly what will happen if the unemployment benefits end for 2 million Americans? If the people are paying attention it is 100% positively on the shoulders of the GOP.  Do Not Forget, the GOP stood in the way for middle class tax cuts and voted NO until and unless the wealthy got their tax cuts extended.  They are hypocrites to cry about the deficit, they caused our huge debt and deficit problems in the first place but will fight to add to it while trying to pass the blame for it onto President Obama and Democrats.

I believe the American people are awake and paying attention to this tax cut debacle.  The suffering and the unemployed have a stake in these decisions being made by Congress, these decisions are having an immediate and personal effect on the people. They are paying attention!

Make no mistake, the Republican Party is fucking the American people and in 2012 they will get theirs....

My Conclusions

I've come to the conclusion the liberals are wasting their time debating the issues with close-minded conservatives. It's the Democrats who constantly bend over backwards to appease the Republicans in Washington (it makes me ill just to write those words), and here in blogland the conservatives say they are debating but I'm through listening to their crap which will NEVER sway me, NEVER make me second guess my liberal views.  I will NEVER understand how they think, where they get their points of view from, and how they come to their conclusions on how this country should be governed.  We were subjected to 8 years of incompetent governing by the Republicans yet they have managed to convince a large portion of our population that somehow they have learned from their mistakes and deserve another chance. But to get this chance they have lied and manipulated the people. What happened yesterday on the Senate floor is proof they have not changed one bit. Yes, those votes were symbolic, but how else can we get it through the peoples heads their precious GOP are NOT standing with you the middle class and poor? Their top priority is to make sure the rich stay rich at the expense of all the rest of us, 98% of us.

So to you Rational Nation who calls the democrats demothieves, and to you lisa and Linda who call Obama a socialist marxist dictator who is hell bent on destroying America ON PURPOSE, I'm not gonna debate you, I'm also not gonna call you names and cuss, I'm just gonna ignore you because we are very different people with very different world views and nothing will change that. Nancy Pelosi, gotta love her backbone...

The House, with leader Nancy Pelosi,  showed some backbone today and pushed through a measure to extend the middle class tax cuts. The measure passed 234-188. This symbolic vote was for show, we all can agree to that because it'll go nowhere in the Senate. But what an oh so sweet vote it was! The republicans came out seething and slobbering all over themselves.  Boehner called the vote chicken crap, nonsense and political games playing! HA!!  YES BONEHEAD, but it was so much fun for us liberals to watch!   House Democrats wanted the American people to see the GOP vote NO for the middle class,  but this vote was also to send a message to  President Obama.  That is a good thing...

“House Democrats are taking a very different negotiating strategy than President Obama,” says Julian Zelizer, a congressional historian at Princeton University in New Jersey. “They are starting with what they want before negotiating with Republicans. President Obama tends to give things away before he negotiates.”
“It’s not just political theater," he adds. Democrats are "trying something different than we’ve seen over the last two years, which is to stand firm before the negotiations."

All revenue bills start in the House, so the whining by the GOP is just pathetic. It's what comes next that will have the liberals in the country whining and complaining. I don't see this ending anywhere near where we want. In the end Democrats and Obama will cave.....ANY vote short of letting the tax cuts to the rich expire is caving. It makes me sick to my stomach....

UPDATE: Harry Reid says there will be 2 separate votes tomorrow, Saturday. One for the middle class tax cuts and one for the richest bastards tax cuts... Can't wait! ;-)

I haven't talked about President Obama's bipartisan meeting yesterday because at this point I'm not sure any of us knows what went on, and what's next for us, the public, remember us??

Look at these ugly stupid men, they don't have a clue what they are doing. They all gag me. The demand this time, to block legislative action on ALL issues to be considered in the lame-duck Congress until the tax cut dispute is settled. Now when they say settled they don't mean debated and compromised, they mean settled as in give us our tax cut extension permanently for our rich fuckin friends or you get NOTHING from us this year! Which by the way is nothing new....

All of the 42 Senate Republican jokers signed a letter to Harry Reid vowing to filibuster EVERYTHING til they get their way. Reid blasted the GOP on the Senate floor today calling them cynical and transparent, their strategy is to delay and obstruct legislation while turning around and blaming it all on Democrats. It will not work. The country will see those thugs for who they are, who they really fight for, and it sure as hell ain't you or I! Fucking whining MF'ers.... the country is watching you and your graves are being dug. They are so brazen, so disgusting....They still call the temporary tax cuts expiring a job- killing tax hike! There was a reason Bush made these tax cuts temporary, the proof is obvious to all of us except the moron righties, these tax cuts to the wealthy did NOT spur job growth. The game is over, the cuts should expire like Bush wanted them to.

So tomorrow, Thursday,  House Democrats will move forward with a vote to permanently extend the tax cuts ONLY for families earning 250,000 or less. THIS is NOT about hurting small businesses. When the GOP whines about that they are LYING! President Obama has made sure small businesses had their tax breaks, of which the GOP voted NO on....

Democrats are also trying to pass several pieces of legislation before a more Republican Congress is sworn in in January, including the START nuclear arms treaty with Russia, a repeal of the ban on gays and lesbians serving openly in the military, and the so-called DREAM Act, which would create a path to citizenship for young illegal immigrants.

"Last month, the American people issued their verdict on the Democrat's priorities," replied Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky. "We need to show the American people that we care more about them and their ability to pay their bills than we do about the special interests' legislative Christmas-list." OMG, the man is delusional! Please people, take the time to listen to the Senators on the floor debating the issues, watch C-Span, you will be amazed. Mitch McConnell and his henchmen DO NOT care about you and your ability to pay your bills! That is friggin hilarious.....ROFLMFAO.......

I think this is the first time I spoke on DADT.  I felt the need to showcase a conservative's bigoted, homophobic stance on lesbians in the military because of the egregiousness of his words. I do so enjoy highlighting stupid conservatives!

From Huffington Post:    Joe Rehyansky, a former official at the Chattanooga, Tennessee, District Attorney's office, recently penned an op-ed opposed to allowing gays in the military, in which he argued that lesbians should be allowed to serve in the armed forces, in part because it would give straight male soldiers a chance to "convert" them.
The statement, which initially appeared at the Daily Caller but has since been removed, served as the apogee to an entirely controversial piece of writing, most of which still remains in the post.
Here's the original ending, now replaced:

My solution would get the distaff part of our homosexual population off our collective "Broke Back," thus giving straight male GIs a fair shot at converting lesbians and bringing them into the mainstream.

Though apparently the only segment outrageous enough to get scrapped on the editor's chopping block -- some have suggested, based on the rest of his piece that he is advocating for a sort of corrective rape of lesbian soldiers -- what remains of Rehyansky's writing is overflowing with other strange and offensively-worded arguments against gays in the military.
"I don't claim to be a Constitutional law scholar on a par with President Obama, but shouldn't the overwhelmingly straight warriors who answer their county's call be spared the indignity of showering with other men who achieve lascivious enjoyment from the sight of those lithe naked bodies, and who may be tempted to seek more than the view?" Do you see this outrageous statement as condoning the rape of lesbian soldiers by their male counterparts? Of course it is! Deleted or not, the written word thankfully stays with us and we are lucky to have this little piece of disgusting filth so we can show the world just how putrid some people are when it comes to tolerance of those not of the straight conservative persuasion...

The rich have gotten so rich it's obscene!

I was reading about the bills this Congress has passed benefiting small businesses when I came across this article. It talks about the New York art world and the comeback it's making.  Last week a painting sold for 42.6 million dollars at Christies auction house. Christies and Sotheby's grossed more than a quarter billion dollars in two weeks of sales that broke record after record for major art works. U.S. buyers dominated the sale. According to the article, 'collectors need to have at least $50 million in the bank to bid on art of this caliber, And that’s just to get into the game. It’s the rarefied domain of America’s elite mega-rich, who profited handsomely from the financial free-for-all on Wall Street and the generous tax cuts enacted during the George W. Bush years in Washington.'


As you read this post you can also refer back to what  Mitch McConnell said in a previous post of mine.


"The high-end Bush-era tax cuts are contributing to our financial ruin rather than our economic success," says Margot Dorfman, chief executive of the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce. "They should expire as scheduled on December 31. We don’t need more tax cuts at the top; we need more consumer spending at the middle." A number of regional chambers of commerce have also broken away from the national group on the Bush tax cuts. "Letting the Bush tax cuts expire for the wealthiest is the right thing to do, and the responsible thing to do," Frank Knapp, chief executive officer of the South Carolina Small Business Chamber of Commerce, recently told Forbes magazine.
The Joint Committee on Taxation in Congress said in a recent report that only 3 percent of taxpayers with any business income would benefit from tax cuts for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans. The panel also projected that extending the tax cuts would add $36 billion to the deficit in 2011. As booming art sales in New York clearly show, the recession is over, and has been over, for the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans for some time now.

The lame duck Congress also needs to extend jobless benefits for the unemployed, the single biggest and most effective economic stimulus; it needs to repeal the onerous 1099 reporting requirements for small businesses (starting in 2012); and it needs to repeal the 3 percent withholding requirement for contractor payments. It passed in 2005, when the economy was booming, and is set go into effect in January 2012.
The lame duck Congress won’t really begin until after Thanksgiving. That’s when both chambers will start the legislative process. Let’s hope they keep their eyes focused on the economy where the majority of the nation is mired, and not the booming one occupied by the wealthiest 2 percent that write the campaign checks. Then, maybe some of those dollars being spent on expensive art works can be put to more productive use rebuilding the nation.

 As much as I hate polls, Sue doesn’t. In fact she rather enjoyed seeing this one in a story from Yahoo! News. I’ll get to that in a minute. Right now, I want to address something that I have been saying since the recent election. The results of that election will bring gridlock. I think so, and apparently this news story backs me up on that very theory. I’ve been saying something to the effect that everyone just needs to be patient as this election will only turn around and bite these dumb fucks on the ass(the one sitting squarely on their shoulders, of course).

A bit of a side note:

You have to understand that these people (ROOKIES) were sent to Capitol Hill to “change” it. Unfortunately, they will be met with self-interested parties ON BOTH SIDES of the aisle that will correct their misguided course. We’ve already seen this happen with Rand Paul and his reversal on Earmarks. Trust me folks, this will only continue to get worse. Like I said on a few posts, “Fasten your seat belts, this ride hasn’t even left the station, yet”.

If there was one thing American voters made abundantly clear on Nov. 2, it's how unhappy they are with politicians and the way things work — or more often don't work — in Washington. Survey after survey has shown that the majority of voters want their elected representatives to do a much better job of coming together to solve the country's problems.
So will things improve after the "shellacking" that voters gave to Democrats in handing control of the House over to the Republicans?
Few Americans appear to be counting on it. In a new ABC News/Yahoo! News poll, most say they have little expectation that things will get better as a result of the recent midterms. Respondents were asked if they thought the election was more likely to move the country in the right direction or the wrong direction. The largest chunk of respondents, some 40 percent, said they didn't expect the election to make a difference at all. Only one-third of those polled, 34 percent thought the results would move the country in the right direction, while another 21 percent said they thought things were headed the wrong way.
An even more telling sign: a whopping 81 percent thought that gridlock — in which the two political parties cannot agree and thus don't pass any meaningful legislation — is likely to occur in the two years leading up to the next presidential election.
If the three weeks since the election are any guide, they look to be dead right.
"The idea that there will be any kind of bipartisan cooperation is naïve," says Greg Valliere, chief political strategist for Potomac Research Group. "Both parties are purging moderates who have had the temerity to compromise; we've never seen such a vacuum in the center."
Already, Republican congressional leaders have very publicly avoided setting a date to meet with President Obama in the White House. They've also refused to back the START nuclear-arms-control treaty with Russia, despite support from prominent Republicans such as former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. The moves, says Valliere, were widely seen as signs that GOP leaders are unwilling to agree to any deals that might potentially help Obama.
But two can play that game, and the Democrats are jumping in as well. Senate Majority leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said he'll soon schedule several votes on what to do about the expiring Bush tax cuts for middle-class and wealthy taxpayers, though they have no chance of passing. Instead, they appear designed to put Republicans on the spot and create fodder for campaign ads that can be used to bash them come 2012.
If gridlock is the order of the day, however, Americans are far less in agreement over whether that's good or bad. By large majorities, registered voters who are Democrats or independents tend to see it in a negative light: some 67 percent of Democrats and 57 percent of independents say that they believe gridlock is a bad thing, as it will keep good legislation from being passed.
By contrast, a hefty share of Republican registered voters have a positive view of gridlock. Some 43 percent of GOP respondents said they thought gridlock was a good thing, because it means bad legislation fails. That's roughly the same number of Republican registered voters, at 42 percent, who think that gridlock is bad.
What accounts for the difference? Republican and Democratic strategists alike say it's a reflection of the deep unhappiness many Republicans have felt about where the country is headed under Obama — and their willingness to do whatever it takes to reverse course.

We are experiencing what can only be described as a jobs crisis, a sustained period of chronic unemployment; and two years of policies that have vastly increased the size and scope of government and added trillions to the debt and have done little to alleviate this problem. You are a lying scumbag. Tell the American people the truth, your party is the problem. Your party who votes NO on every jobs bill, votes NO on helping small business to hire, your party is making it possible for your rich friends to sit on their billions and not hire.

“Take the Stimulus, for example.

“Here was a bill that was supposed to create millions of jobs and keep unemployment from rising above eight percent. Yet, since Democrats passed it nearly two years ago, more than three million people have lost jobs and the economy barely has a pulse. Another lie. We have had steady growth since the stimulus. Slow yes, but steady. Unemployment is a lagging indicator. 
The American people delivered a clear verdict on this and other failed experiments in the government-as-economic-stimulator on Election Day. But Democratic leaders in Washington continue to act as if nothing has changed, including their priorities. LIE LIE LIE, The American people want our leaders in Washington to work for them, the middleclass, not for YOUR rich friends and corporate America, which your party does. The verdict is in, the people want Obama to stop caving to republicans!

Guest post on Wisconsins woes...

My cousin Jeanette and her husband Michael (who is the professional writer in the house) live in Wisconsin. They have been activists for more than 25 years, how awesome is that?!  They really do go to these protest rallies, not stay home on the couch complaining like most people today. We need to follow their example and get out there in the country and start protesting!

So, the other day she put on FB  she was going to the train station to protest Scott Walker killing the high speed train project. That's when I asked her to do a post for me since I had previously touched on this subject of highspeed rail. She lives there, is seeing it first hand, and is my expert guest poster, so welcome Jeanette please!

About 200 people came to the Milwaukee Intermodal Station on Saturday, November 20 to support high speed rail in Wisconsin. The Sierra Club sponsored a statewide Day of Action, featuring rallies in six other cities around the state. Career politician Scott Walker, newly elected Republican governor of Wisconsin is rabidly anti-government, and wants to deny the citizens of our state the opportunity to join a Midwest high speed rail system that would initially connect Milwaukee to Madison and on to Chicago and Minneapolis.

Walker campaigned on the issue of jobs, but wants to throw away $800 million of federal money already granted the state. As a result, the Spanish train car manufacturer Talgo will probably abandon its newly opened factory in Milwaukee's inner city, denying the dreams of thousands of potential job holders. One 2006 study estimates that the Midwest Regional rail System will bring Wisconsin an estimated 9,570 permanent jobs, $173 million in additional household income, and $704 million in increased property values.

Wisconsin will be left behind with this rail system, which would not only put people to work, but be an environmentally friendly way to travel. But Walker is doing the bidding of the road builders looking for more highways, which means more cars and trucks spewing carbon monoxide over the countryside. Walker said on election night “Wisconsin is open for business, which really means “we will keep the unions out”, and he hates any hand-outs by the Federal Government, which would be providing the $800 million we were alloted, $100 million of which we have already used to do the preliminary work needed to start laying the tracks. There have been numerous offers from other governors to take the money for high speed rail in their states, but Walker is trying to weasel out of giving up the money restricted to high speed rail.

system, a remnant of the bygone age of the early 20^th century, when Socialists were active participants in Milwaukee area government. This is when our beautiful lakefront on Lake Michigan was kept open for the public to enjoy, instead of being bought up by private landholders, Now Scott Walker wants to turn back all of the gains made for the working people and give everything to the rich. And he wants to see our vision of the future derailed.

Thanks so much for this post Jeanette. Unfortunately your story is the same as hundreds of others in different states having to deal with Republican leadership doing everything in their power to kill jobs. What the hell is going on in our country? These republicans say they are listening to the voters who are sending a message, they want the government to stop spending! These are boldfaced lies! The voters have spoken loud and clear.....THEY WANT JOBS FIRST, and worry about paying down the nations debt when the country starts to prosper! Why is that so difficult to understand? These lying hypocrite republicans care not a bit about the unemployed, they want this country to stay suffering because they think it will help their chances in 2012! OH HOW WRONG THEY ARE!!!

 A conservative columnist whose bonafides include a stint at the National Review and a speechwriting gig for former first lady Nancy Reagan has slammed Sarah Palin, calling the former half-term governor "consumed and obsessed by the media."
Writing on the self-described "conservative" Townhall.com, columnist Mona Charen blasted Palin for her lack of experience:

Palin was advised by those who admire her natural gifts to bone up on policy and devote herself to governing Alaska successfully. Instead, she quit her job as governor after two and a half years, published a book (another is due next week), and seemed to chase money and empty celebrity.

 Barbara Bush spoke to Larry King about Sarah Palin......
Her impression?
"Thought she was beautiful. And she's very happy in Alaska," Bush said, chuckling. "I hope she'll stay there."

Rosanne Cash, daughter of legendary country singer and songwriter Johnny Cash, tweeted her way into politics again Tuesday, sending out a dispatch batting former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for supposed hypocrisy in her criticism of President Obama as an unvetted, unprepared leader.

The musician tweeted Tuesday:

 Sarah Palin was at the butt end of an insult from former Hillary Clinton aide Jami Floyd on Friday, when Floyd called the former Alaska Governor and potential presidential fascination an "extraordinary ass."
"Never underestimate your opponent and the governor says she's an extraordinary asset to her party," Floyd said on MSNBC. "I say she's an extraordinary ass, frankly."

In an interview with ABC News scheduled to air in full on December 9, Barbara Walters asked Palin, "If you ran for president, could you beat Barack Obama?"
"I believe so," Palin responded.

This woman is getting slammed from every front, and some say we better be careful because it will just cause her followers to reload, not retreat. But damn, Hillary Clinton is one of the smartest and most qualified political figures in America today and she failed at winning the nomination, and this woman actually believes she can do what Hillary could not?


In a New York Times piece she said this,
 “I know that a hurdle I would have to cross, that some other potential candidates wouldn’t have to cross right out of the chute, is proving my record. That’s the most frustrating thing for me — the warped and perverted description of my record and what I’ve accomplished over the last two decades. It’s been much more perplexing to me than where the lamestream media has wanted to go about my personal life. And other candidates haven’t faced these criticisms the way I have.”
I asked her if by avoiding the national press, she didn’t bear at least some responsibility for the way the public viewed her. “I’m on television nearly every single day with reporters,” she shot back. “Now granted, that’s mainly through my job at Fox News, and I’m very proud to be associated with them, but I’m not avoiding anything or anybody. I’m on Facebook and Twitter. I’m out there. I want to talk about my record, though.”


Why does she make us throw-up? Her record is not warped and distorted, it's the absolute truth, that's the problem she's having. We Know Her! We know her record, She's NOT qualified to be president but she's too stupid to see that!
