Obama disappointed that there were only 50000 people in attendance of the #onenation rally of which only 100 were legal.
This is how immature wingnuts are. The size of the crowd has nothing to do with the content of the rally. It has nothing to do with helping our country get on her feet, helping the jobless, those who are discriminated against, helping our nation come together in peace and prosperity! This rally was made up of Americans talking about economic issues, jobs, education and equality. It was a rally to get the message out on how important it is to vote on November 2nd.
The difference in message between the One Nation rally and Beck/Palin rally was obvious. One Nation was about bringing the country together, Americans from all walks of life were at this rally with a message of unity.
The other rally so hyped by Fox and the Christians, was just that, Fox and Christians. It was people dressed as revolutionaries bashing the Obama administration. Blaming Obama for our countries descent into hell. Telling all the Christians if this country does not turn back to God we are doomed. Beck with his bulletproof vest on was channeling God, Palin was praying for the Rapture, teabaggers were holding misspelled signs, shouts coming from the rightiewhities to "give them their country back". What a sad, sad day for America, there was NO coming together pleas, no message to save our economy and put people back to work. Just Beck, Palin and The Christians, crying, whining, and praying....for God to give them back their country from the evil liberals and the Muslim black president...

I tuned into C-Span and saw a small rabble milling around while a red-faced man ranted at them. If the announcer hadn't told us what it was I would have thought it was a Chavez rally in Venezuela.
Don't be disappointed about the crowd size, I heard it did surpass the set-up crew for the Glenn Beck rally.
But seriously, folks, this is free speech in action, and for that reason I can, in the spirit of Voltaire, call your rally a beautiful thing.
SF, Ed Schultz may have a red face and red hair but his passion is in the right place. We don't just sit and pray to God to fix our problems, we fix them ourselves, with NO help from the wingnuts I might add!

Despite Mr. Passive Aggressive's statement, it should be remembered that this rally didn't get all the FREE pre-publicity from Fox and the MSM that Beck's Come-to-Jesus meeting did. And the participants didn't have fat-cats paying their transportation, food and hotel costs.
I would have been there this weekend but I'm too poor. I wouldn't have been at Beck's dog and pony show if one of the Koch brothers had personally delivered a check to me for one million bucks. I'm not for sell.

Leslie it's a damn shame Schultz was just about the only liberal talking about the rally on cable news. I think alot of people around the country are saving their money for the trip to DC to the Jon Stewart rally tho...alot of people are saying they will be at that rally for sure!
People seem to forget the history of this great nation of ours. They replace it with what the media tells them. If they only know Beck, then that is what the truth is. If it's Maddow, well, we're all better off! The truth is in unity, regardless of Right or Left.
I'm with Expressoself on this one. The void of media coverage was sad, but not surprising considering who owns most of the MSM. For a rally with very little publicity, they did well. Sue's right - enough people fighting the good fight will eventually lead to good in this world. It was like that with every victory in our history, every time a wrong was righted. And God knows it doesn't happen overnight.
First of all, I'd like to apologize to Linda for goofing up on my spelling. It always happens when I don't stop to spell-check, which is normally a rule of thumb for me because of dyslexia. Like your guru Bush, I was born with it.
And then I want to say this to you, Linda. You have a lot of gall coming here and telling us:

#1: I believe I am a Christian. I just don't go around pushing it in other peoples' faces because I firmly believe that people have a right to worship - or not - the way they desire. It is, as Sue says, the hypocrisy. I do not preach family values and then run around on my spouse. I do not preach hatred but instead believe in love of our fellow man (even conservatives) and in helping those less fortunate than me.
#2: Again, I do not hate intelligent conservatives. But I hate what the current crop of neanderthals represent, which is nothing more than hate and greed.
More to the point, you have a lot of gall going to someone else's blog and accusing the owner and guests of being ignorant when you have demonstrated time and again that you neither know your history - constitutional, U.S. and world - and that your brain is smaller than a pin head. If you want to spread your hate, lies and vitriol, you can show some class and manners by doing it on your own turf.
Thanks Expresso, the right doesn't want unity, they stick their noses up at liberals. The ask why Obama hasn't brought the 2 sides together, can you friggin believe that?? Have you ever seen a president bend over backwards to please the other side the way Obama has, then get kicked in the face every time?? Fuck them, they don't deserve anything! Sue ~ For the record, I KNOW what I believe and do not need Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck to tell me what to think. I live in Illinois and was completely aware of Barack Obama's extremely liberal voting record here in my own state. I am also familiar with the rampant corruption in Illinois (esp. Chicago area) politics. It is very presumptuous for you to credit Limbaugh and Beck for my political opinions. I was raised by liberal parents, but when I became old enough to vote, I realized that I did not agree with their political philosopy and have considered myself to be conservative my entire adult life. That pre-dates Rush Limbaugh's influence as well as Glenn Beck's. So, get over it...I'm living by my own political ideology...not someone else's.

You know, Sue, I grew up working class Democrat too, like Linda. I don't think anyone in my extended family copped to being Republican.
Believe it or not, Gore was my early favorite for president, I think in 1988 when he was in the Democratic primary. I was a Reagan fan, but I was in no way cemented into the GOP camp.
Gore was antiabortion, pro-gun, strong on defense, and Tipper led that campaign to get warning labels on albums (a very American approach, btw. She didn't want to shut Frank Zappa up, she just wanted to give parents some guidance.)
Contrast that with where the Democratic party is today...

I have to say I am annoyed that the MSM did not cover this rally the way they did the Beck one. It will be interesting to see if they cover the Stewart/Colbert rally. If they don't then we'll know which side they're on for sure.

Maui I have a feeling the Stewart rally will get more coverage, even tho this rally was an important one for voters. I have seen comment after comment on other blogs saying they knew nothing about the One Nation rally, that's a shame. Just goes to show ya Fox outsmarted us this time, their coverage for Becks rally was over the top, and totally biased!

SF, why didn't you righties go after Clinton and his policies the way you do with Obama? I really don't get it. The spending was necessary, if Bush didn't take us over a cliff the first Bush TARP and Obamas stimulus would never have happened. It's ALL BUSHES FAULT. The TARP didn't work, that money is gone forever, the stimulus is working but not fast enough for the fickle, impatient people, so you all must bash the person in office, Obama. Poor guy...

Just looking at the crowd (watched on C-SPAN after I got home from the game) I think my biggest disappointment was the lack of star power from the Dems and progressives- Ed Schultz excepted. I can understand that some don't want to get caught in the trap that Fox Newsies and some Republicans did by being on center stage for Tea Party events and thus destroying any credibility they have with the center....but it was odd not to see very many of the prominent voices of today's progressive movement.
BTW....I was at the stadium from Saturday morning to the evening....did MSNBC offer any live coverage or were they sticking to that ridiculous weekend programming that they regurgitate on Saturday and Sundays?

Yes, MSNBC showed the rally for 3 hours of it. But there were so many commercials and I couldn't sit there for 3 straight hours, so I only saw Ed and Rev. Al speak. I thought C-Span was taken off my cable but it was just moved from 21 to 95. If I had known that I coulda watched it on that station! Oh well...the wingnuts are making a huge deal about crowd size and trashy lawns, of course...
