I'm almost speechless over this debt hike fight, as I'm sure President Obama is ....Apparently Republicans do not read polls, they can't be reading anything but the Fox polls, if they did they would not be staying the course for an inevitable default within the next week....Who is supporting this action by those teabagger Republican Reps? Stupid, crazy people??
I was reading yesterday some GOP'ers say the party will start impeachment procedures if Obama sends the country into default..WTF??? That's been their plan for the past 3 yrs...they can't get Obama for anything unethical, he is clean as a whistle, they can't get him for citizenship issues, tried that, lost that... they have nothing on this president so the debt hike fiasco is their only hope to impeach a wildly popular president. Shows how crazy those M F'ers are doesn't it? How else do you explain the president and the Democrats giving into every demand from those sick bastards YET they still say NO DEAL?? How do you explain this to the American people?
Now, if President Obama has one chance to raise the debt ceiling without support from the Rethuglicans it is with the 14th amendment. At todays pc the Democrats said that if all other measures fail, the POTUS should issue an executive order invoking the 14th amendment to unilaterally raise the debt ceiling.
Think Progress: House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rep. John Larson (CT) and Assistant Minority Leader Jim Clyburn (SC) explained that their colleagues believe that if Republicans are intent on “destroying government,” then there should be a “fail-safe mechanism” to ensure that the debt ceiling is hiked and that this mechanism is the 14th amendment:
LARSON: If a small group is really that intent on destroying government, and is intent on saying they don’t believe there are any ramifications for their irresponsibility then we have to have a fail-safe mechanism, we believe that fail safe mechanism is the 14th amendment and the president of the United States.
CLYBURN: So I would say to the president, if that’s what lands on his desk, a short-term listing of the debt ceiling — he should put it on his desk next to an executive order he will have drawn up. And with the same pen that he vetoes that short term debt ceiling extension, he should sign an executive order invoking the 14th Amendment to this issue. I am convinced that whatever discussions about the legality of this issue can continue.
President Obama and Democrats are on the winning side of this fiasco, the polls prove that. Nobody of sane mind and body wants to see this country default. I hope when this is all over and Obama saves the country from the brink of disaster, the country shows it's gratitude by voting in 2012 for Barack Obama AND just as important, puts democrats back in the majority in the House of Representatives. When a person is elected to serve the people of this country and they choose to put corporations before middle America, they do not deserve leadership roles in our government.. This morning Sam Stein and Joe Scarborough said what was lost in this debt fight was the American people and how they would suffer if we default. You are half right guys, the Democrats DO talk about the people but the Republicans NEVER have. Believe it blind sheeple, the Republican Party does NOT care about you, not one bit! Just listen to what they say, listen closely!

Is the GOP digging it's own grave with the debt limit blockage? Certainly lots more people will suffer now if the ceiling is not raised than will suffer if it is raised.
I hope they are Jerry, but so many strategists say the tea party is winning the fight, then they say, but not the war.....
I don't get the argument raising the debt ceiling will hurt the country, that is insane thinking, teabagger thinking...
The Republicans have endangered the country with their irresponsible fiscal policies.
If he has to, he must use the Constitution to protect the best interest of the American people, which is the opposite of what Republicans want.
The deficit ceiling and the deficit/debt problem are separate. There is no necessity to link the two together. True, we need to bring spending and revenue in line with each other, like the last Democratic president did and the last republican president un-did, but making the debt limit a worldwide crisis is not the way to do it.
The republicans aren't kidding when they say they want to economy to crash. There is no other explanation. They would stand to make greater profits in a booming economy without a doubt. But when they can extract money from the poor and middle class through mortgage defaults, cutting taxes and services, and fleecing them as employees and stock holders, they will be fine, just as they were during the great depression. As long as Americans are paying their cable bills, buying cars, fuel, groceries and appliances. As long as people are taking out high interest credit, student loans, the list goes on and on. They will ride this out. The difference is they don't care who wins or loses, who lives or dies.
Republicans do not read polls, or need the polls now because as 2010 showed them, with the US Chamber of Commerece, Rove's Crossroads, Koch's various front groups all spending all the money they want to influence people who usually never think about politics much at all.
They know in individual congressional races that money and the distorted ads it buys can over come the truth like in 2010. The dog whistle words like death panels, obamacare, big government tax and spend, are time tested and the voters seem to accept it with no real thought.
Luntz, Brent Bozell, the various Washington based DeVos/Koch/Scaife-funded institutes "think tanks" hand them the propaganda to use.
The Stupid, crazy people, as you put it have continously accepted this as the votes in 2000, 2004, 2010 show. even though the repuglican politicians usually undermine the poor and middle class, they way the ads are created and presented, the voters accewpt that story line in the voting booth.
Having levers of controll like Fla 2000, Ohio 2004 and the various schemes to deny the vote to hundreds of thopusand nation wide this time, they aren't worried.
They aren't worried about polls in July 2011, for a election in Nov 2012.
They learned a very real lesson from Bush Sr in his polling decline from summer 91 to fall 92. Given the poll numbers from the summer 1991 after the Desert Storm win, and the imploding Soviet crisis, supposed leading candidates like Mario Cuomo didn't run (Clinton is lucky he didn't).
By the next summer Bush's poll numbers and Perot's on again off again campaign Bush seemed beatable.
The controllers of the GOP think they are building the perfect steal like they did in both 2000, and 2004.
I think he has to, and I think he was given everything he needs to do so by "Junket John" Boehner today.
Junket John flat-out admitted that his Klanbagger Kaukus aims to create chaos in the US economy. If you take a good look at the Constitution...
"The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it."
There have been Court decisions handed down since then that say a President can't declare a State of Emergency in contravention of an act of Congress. But this isn't an Act of Congress; it's the Congress NOT acting. Couple this with the 14th Amendment and I believe you have at least semi-solid ground underneath you for action.
When I mentioned polls I meant the polls that show the people are on the side of Democrats with debt ceiling argument, taxing the rich, not touching SS and Medicare, HC for ALL etc....
The president has highly intelligent advisors surrounding him (so unlike the Republicans), he knows the stakes, but here we sit once more asking ourselves, will he do what he MUST do?
the sickness coming from the teabagger FRESHMEN tells me they think they can fulfill prophecies, they are the religious right afterall. This is why teabaggers/religious fanatics don't care about defaulting, they don't even believe we have a future!

Actually they do believe we have a future if Cut, Cap, and Balance were to becomes law.
They believe failing that we will continue down the same fiscal path of the prior three decades or so. If so ultimately they belve the house the Founders Built will collapse.
They have a point with respect to fiscal responsibility and the need to get deficits under control and reduce the national debt.
They are off base with their intransigence over raising the debt ceiling. Hopefully this will b resolved without the President resorting to invoking the 14th.
they do not have a point RN! They are frauds! Never caring about runaway spending or deficits until Barack Obamas presidency, and that is the truth! I have no time for liars, frauds and deceivers, and that is the right wing of our Congress.
"They" are the ones responsible for our financial mess. Their input should be ignored, just as we ignore a drunk driver's excuse after he has killed someone.
Sue,be honest here....if you had the opportunity would you give Barack head? Now,be honest.
It's the pictures isn't it??? I knew they would piss off the righties that's why I posted them!! ROFLMAO!!!
I do believe that Boehner just commited political suicide. He went from the orange speaker of the house to the yellow speaker of the house.

Sue, that reads like something your resident troll, Lisa, would write. She wrote something similar to that to me on her blog. Something about it being time for me to get on my knees for Obama.
Funny, isn't it? The righwingers are alway talking about sex, dog sex, and/or blow jobs.
Poor things. Sexually satisfied people don't have to resort to those sorts of wistful imaginings.
Not only are we smarter and happier, buy we don't have to get off imagining how others' behave sexually.
Lisa, OTOH, loves her dogs.
"Paging Rick Santorum!"
Shaw it's too, too funny! I could just feel the jealous rage in that comment, it made me laugh out loud! There are so many beautiful POTUS pictures on FB, I think I will put up a new one every couple of days!
I hope so C!!
I think the republicans are really scrambling. It's going to be "their Waterloo"!
It's gonna get wild Jerry! I'm glad I have 3 days off so I can pay attention! LOL! Aaaah, such is the life of a political junkie...
TICK - TOCK.
:-)
I need to throw that damn clock in the trash! You are bad! LOL
