We The People!

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Will the average American citizen be able to cast their vote for a candidate and be assured it actually means something? Chuck Schumer says from now on the winners will be predetermined, they will not be Republican Or Democrat, they will be corporate America.

Do we as citizens have the willpower to exercise our rights and make this decision backfire on the corporations who will seek to control the electorate? The ads will be fast and furious this summer, but we must make it our job to investigate each candidate up for election. We must tell ourselves WE will decide who is best to represent our state in the Senate race, NOT who corporate America thinks will do the best job representing THEM.

Will we the people be bombarded with negative ads? Yes, and just like what happened to John Kerry and the swiftboat ads, we will see this ten-fold. Also, pay attention to who is praising this ruling and who is speaking out against it.

This is our America, we can roll over and let corporate America destroy our Democracy or we can fight them. We MUST fight back. Please listen to what Alan Grayson says at the end of the video. WE THE PEOPLE can collectively come together, we can say nobody will predetermine our elections. WE MUST, this is the United States of America!

Hmm GE and Microsoft 2 liberal corporations.
Plus you guys have Hollywood and 99% of the TV networks of who already tow the liberal line, so I think it's safe to say you have no worries about who this will benefit.

Lisa: As usual, you are full of unadulterated bullshit. I am in the process of doing a study on media bias - this requires research, something you're obviously not familiar with.

As much as you Tea Buggers whine and bitch that the media is biased towards liberals, you are way off base. There are very reputable, unbiased non-profit organizations that have conducted study after study which all end with the same conclusion. The media leans to the right. period.

If all you can name is two so-called liberal corporations, which I'm sure you didn't bother researching either, it seems to me the Tea Buggers are ahead of the game.

And, little miss twitty toes, you need to understand that many, if not most, American corporations are funded by those fur'ners.

We have had corporate candidates on both sides for years. The Republicans have more corporate candidates, by far.
I would vote for next bartender, or whatever non lawyer, non political professional running.
We can laugh at the person who writes in Mickey Mouse, but that's as good as voting for these crooks, and less harmful.

As an owner of GE stock I will vote to not allow them to donate money to political candidates that don't agree with me.

There. I hope that makes Lisa feel better.

Here is an interesting scenario that is now possible thanks to the recent supreme court ruling.

1. Al Qaeda incorporates itself in the US. It become Al Qaeda, Inc.

2. It donates millions of dollars to buy its own set of politicians.

3. Guess the next step.

I've been giving this a little thought - duh. This just might backfire on those Republicans because low and middle income (and even some who are a little beyond the middle) resent the hell out of corporate and big money influences.

So, while we may not have the big bucks we have the numbers. This doesn't mean we can rest on our laurels, but it does mean we have a chance at the polls. If people aren't happy with Obama now, they're going to be even less so with the arrogant, and often crooked, big money influences. This is discounting the more ignorant members of our society, of course.

Leslie it's not who owns them it's the way they report. So in other words if you are telling me that NBC,MSNBC,ABC,NPR,PBS,HBO,The Times,Newsweek lean to the right?
If that's the case then that must mean that FOX and talk radio leans left correct?
If so then I would trade you FOX and Talk radio for all the above.
And being liberals don't listen to talk radio it wouldn't be worth it would it? As we can see what happened to Air America.

Al Qaeda Inc. They are getting there. Isn't that the grand plan?
I have an idea let's create a Global Government and give them even more power.

Lisa, I don't understand what the hell you're talking about because you haven't learned your English. Ten to one I bet you're one of those English First people.

yes Tom, this ruling does seem to favor the rightwing, afterall they are in bed with the corporations, while the left wing just naps with the corps.! ;-)

Leslie I have thought the same thing. We are so sick of the negative ads, so whichever side spends the most on negative will be the losers. Lets keep our fingers crossed! ;-)

As you say "We" can do that it's the rest of them who are the problem and many are really fucking stupid. Some just plain dumb and most of the rest mind screwed by media. We go to the plate everyday with a 2-0 count. Think something is going to go our way for a change-forget about it ain't going to happen. I appreciate the optimism I find here but the coup has ramped up big time for the finale in November. LTFO!

Lisa are you for real? WTF are you talking about? Are you saying you are OK with corporations having the same rights as individuals? Are you saying the First Amendment was not designed for the benefit of individuals? Are you saying you want your vote to be meaningless? Are you saying this is a left-wing conspiracy? What the fuck is wrong with you? We should ALL be outraged by this decision, both conservative, middle of the roaders, and liberals. Jesus Lisa this is the end of the United States as we know it. Nothing short of a blood bath will change this Pandoras box escapement. Shut the fuck up!

You just kind of have to chill when it comes to Lisa's comments. When questioned closely, she will say she is just kidding. Don't take what she says seriously. (I think she is a thirteen year old just having fun.)

Sue said...

Jerry yes she does say that!! I think the whole time she is typing Beck is on in the background and she gets all confused!

Onefly I do try to stay optimistic, you gotta give me that, right? LOL

Hi jaded, I sure hope Congress looks into this quickly like the president has promised. How can we let 5 radical rightwing morons change our democracy?? WE CAN'T!

Lisa G. said...

tnlib, you beat me to little 'l' lisa again. Thanks for that.

Giving corporations the same rights as individuals to influence political candidates is the death knell to our republic. This is serious bad news.

jadedj said...

Jerry, you are probably right, although I have been following this nitwit for months now, not only here, but on other liberal blogs as well. She never response to my pointed questions. This one got to me though, because it is beyond normal politics.

Sue, you are right, we need to fight this...ALL of us.

Hey they have to compete the flood of money from the Unions.Who by the way can funnel it through groups like Moveon and then have George Soros donate as an "individual". How do you limit controls of that?
Also corporations supply millions of jobs so and alot of the democrat's policies directly affect them which then affects individuals working for them.
So if we have to limit what corporations can contribute then we should also have limits on all groups regardless if they donate directly or to the causes of that party. But good luck with that.

Jerry Critter said...

"... if we have to limit what corporations can contribute then we should also have limits on all groups"

Ahhhhh Lisa,
We did have limits on ALL groups until the recent Supreme Court decision.

it's just a waste of time Jerry, sad, so sad....

See what I mean?

Having limits and controlling them are 2 different things Jerry.
Obama raised more money than any other candidate through 527 groups and through the internet where they origins of those donations could not be traced.
