GOP reacts to Obamas speech, I bet you can guess how that went...

Another great interview by Rachel. David Corn says unfortunately there is an audience for the lies told by the right, there is a segment of the population who believes the GOP when they come out with total lies and smears right after our president speaks about this very critical subject, terrorism. For the life of me I don't know how they will keep this up for the next 7 years. Maybe they will drive themselves insane!

I can dream, can't I!?

Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so.

ELOrocks17 said...

Liberals use name-calling to squelch debate. Liberals have a wonderful array of smear terms, the most popular of which are "bigot", "prejudiced", and "antisemitic". Once a person gets one of these labels pinned on him, it is well-nigh impossible to shake it. And of course, there is never a legitimate need to debate with a "bigot", which is what liberals label those who do not agree with their racial politics. In fact, it is the liberal label of "bigotry" which prevents racial politics from being seriously debated in this country, and especially prevents mention of such vital facts as the mental inferiority and pronounced criminal tendencies of some of the liberals' favorite minorities.

Two things:

Cannot comment on the video except to say David Corn is a competent and trusted writer. I have several of his books.

And, you must be doing somthing right, Sue, because the right-wing has found you.

Sue,
the comment from ELOrocks17 is not surprising, but it is illuminating. EL talks about how wrong it is to label someone a bigot and then proceededs to throw out this winner, "and especially prevents mention of such vital facts as the mental inferiority and pronounced criminal tendencies of some of the liberals' favorite minorities." Wow, talk about a lack of self awareness.

I'm curious what EL meant by "liberals...racial politics". Did EL mean that liberals actually believe in the words, "all men are created equal"? It is clear by the statement that EL does not believe that. There is no place to even start a discussion with someone who obviously believes that they are superior to others because of the color of their skin.

Pamela Zydel said...

Hey Sue: Has EL been over to my place where Conservatives, my OWN party, tried to squelch MY freedom of speech? Where the Conservatives used smear tactics? Where Conservatives used labels and were bigoted? I don't think so.

Gosh, I'm SOOOO sick of that type of crap! I wish the wackos from BOTH side of the aisle would just be dropped on an Island where they could call each other names and leave the rest of us to debate in a civil manner! Maybe then we could fix OUR country!

Infidel753 said...

Mycue23: What a bigot you are! You're obviously prejudiced against people who are prejudiced against other races! You bigotophobe!

[/troll]

Pamela: I know exactly what you mean, unfortunately. I've seen the thread on your blog to which you refer. During the Democratic primaries in 2008 I supported Hillary, and the attacks and hatred I saw from some of the Obama cultists at that time were more vicious than anything I've gotten from right-wingers before or since.

Any large grouping will have its fanatics. The funny thing about fanatics is that, while they hate the other side, the people they really hate are the ones on their own side who don't hate the other side enough.

Regarding what ELOrocks17 said...

Odd, but I didn't see any name calling in this post. None at all. Unless you might consider 'liar' but that was only by inference.

But Mr/Ms/Mrs. Rocks didn't mind throwing out a few ugly words; such as 'mental inferiority' and connecting those words to minorities and vital facts.

That really told me all I needed to know about him or her. What a terribly sad person.

Name-calling is not necessarily bad, especially when rooted in fact. Teabaggers are big, fat white people. Sarah Palin did attend five different schools, including two junior colleges, before she achieved a degree. Rush Limbaugh is a junkie. Newt Gingrich did serve divorce papers on his first wife in the hospital room where she was recovering from breast cancer surgery. John Boehner did read the "Preamble to the Constitution" on the steps of the US Congress.

This, and so much more is true. It is not vitriol. It amazes Frodo that there are intelligent people that feel they need to defend such behavior. Perhaps Frodo's error is in the use of the word "intelligent?" He hopes that it is merely "bad judgment."

Mycue, you beat me to my comment. ;-)

Sue, I have to disagree with you on one point. Saying the Republican leadership could go insane is like saying the Pope could go Catholic.

Sue said...

Pam this is new for my blog!

I thought ELO's statement...
"mental inferiority and pronounced criminal tendencies of some of the liberals' favorite minorities."
Was quite bigoted and I'm confused by your response Infidel. Can we not have Mycue call out ELO and his stupid racial comment? What are liberals supposed to assume when conservatives say those words, so if the label fits....

Please let me know if I'm reading wrong, I'm painting kitchen cabinets today and it may be the paint fumes...

It sucks living here in Missouri.

Good point Tom, my dreams have come true!

rbdwiggins must be talking about THE OTHER party, to say that liberals knows so much that isn't so. I get so tired of these smear terms everybody uses. There is NO intelligent debate anymore: just the imbecilic, ignorant, juvenile name calling. When the leaders of our country (and each state) act this way, how can we expect the citizens to act any differently?
No wonder the rest of the world thinks we're almost another Third World Country.

“During the Democratic primaries in 2008 I supported Hillary, and the attacks and hatred I saw from some of the Obama cultists at that time were more vicious than anything I've gotten from right-wingers before or since.”

AMEN!

Now, let me separate my opinion from that of I-753 and express my true feelings here, although it won’t get me any brownie points. I do sign my real name and speak my own thoughts!

Some of that anti-Hillary activity came from distortions and sexist remarks by the lights at MSNBC: Tim Russert, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, et al. (To his credit, Dan Abrams in the 9 o’clock slot attempted to set the record straight on Hillary – and by extension, the Clintons.) Richard Mellon Scaife never did as good a hatchet job of tearing down the Clintons, and he repented and endorsed her.

Matthews must be apoplectic and Olbermann crestfallen over all the attention Rachel Maddow gets these days. I cannot read a blog or an email without someone mentioning her name and her show.

I learned a very valuable lesson in campaign 2008: propaganda coming from the left is just as bad as propaganda coming from the right. Subsequently, I disconnected cable TV. The advocacy journalism on MSNBC is to the left what Fox News is to the right. I prefer to read the facts of a story and form my own opinions. (Learned that in Journalism 101.)

Now, there will be a meeting of my friends next week in a phone booth! In the meantime, I will continue to work hard over at DemWit in support of the current administration’s policies and ideals.

BJ surely we all can agree, the left can be as brutal as the right. I find Rachel to be honest and good at her job as far as fact finding. Its not just a show about her personal beliefs. She has guests from both sides of the isle and her interviews are lively! I wish you had the chance to watch her, she's a smart, educated woman and I find her fair and truthful.
Now... about that phonebooth, where and when?

Sue said...

Judi isn't it sad that alot of foreigners look at us as immature to say the least when it comes to politics!

Leslie Parsley said...

Sue, You know Infidel wouldn't make such a comment like that in all seriousness. Note the exclamation point. Note the history of Infidel. Walk around and say it out loud in a very sarcastic tone of voice. Add, Sure - right!

BJ: My daughter felt that it was just plain old-fashioned sexism. I think she's a bright, talented lady but I also think she shot herself in the foot on occasion - especially when she got caught lying about being shot at.

Leslie Parsley said...

Re Rachel: Having worked in the media and having been a researcher all my life, I feel comfortable saying that she and her staff outshine all the other cable - and commercial - networks in doing background research.

Maybe you don't care for her delivery but she's one smart gal. Unlike so many other media types who rely on previous articles/shows without checking the facts, she does her homework and avoids carrying the same errors and mistakes from show to show or network to network.

ElOrocks17 ~ Would you please explain your last sentence? On first reading, I was shocked by the racist implication, but then upon reading it again, I need to ask, Are you referring to the labeling as bigoted by liberals, those who criticize Barack Obama and his appointees, such as Van Jones and Marc Lloyd? I have discovered that some liberals will not allow criticism of Obama or others in the administration without retaliating with the label of racist.

The Wool Cupboard said...

Frodo ~ I think we have examples of despicable behavior on both sides of the isle, don't you? Neither John Kennedy nor Bill Clinton were paragons of virtue, either.

Sue said...

Linda I have criticized President Obama on many occasions, right here on my own little blog.

The only thing I can surmise from ELO is he is a bigot and finds minorities to be mentally inferior and have criminal tendencies. If I'm wrong then come back and tell me what you said ELO.

Sue and Leslie:

I always watched MSNBC and often quoted its shows on my various blogs. I couldn’t understand when Media Matters for America named Chris Matthews “Misinformer of the Year.” Only when I began to hear what they were all saying about the Clintons did I begin to view everything they said with healthy skepticism. Here was a so-called news outlet openly supporting a presidential candidate – not just in editorial content on opinion shows, but in its hard news coverage as well.

Let’s face it, they really did a hatchet job on Hillary.

I voted for and support my president.

I watched Rachel and liked her. My comment had nothing to do with her delivery. The point I hoped to make was about “advocacy journalism,” which to this retired journalist is an oxymoron, having had “objectivity” beaten into my head in “J” school.

As I’ve explained, I’m on a low-speed dial-up connection and unable to play videos, and it seems more and more news sites and blogs are displaying them. So, that’s frustrating.

Finally, we are all very fortunate to have Infidel753 commenting on our blogs. He explains issues with such reason and clarity and is an asset to our discourse.

Spot on Sue. The vegetative supporters of the Punk Ass Bitch Republican Party want two things: Fearmongering and Lying. That's what they love and crave and that's what the GOP gives them.

Sue said...

Mornin' Gene, you got that right! Can you think of anything of substance the GOP says that ISN'T a lie?? Me neither! lol. Their whole platform is based on fearmongering, they have started it now with the underwear bomber. They are probably praising God for sending the bomber so they can bring terrorism to the forefront of the conversation. It's all too pitiful!

Sue said...

I hear ya BJ. I read the papers, I read the news.com sites, I watch TV news and I have watched all cable news including Fox. Sure when we read or hear a commentator speak it's an opinion piece, and we take it as such. I think I can decipher between blatant lies(FOX) and just opinion, from hard facts. I guess cable nighttime viewing is entertainment plus facts combined. And of course a liberal like me will be watching MSNBC.

Yes we are fortunate to have Infidel comment. And I'm fortunate he doesn't call me a dingbat, LOL!

I appreciate all my longtime, intelligent blogging friends who come to my little 'ole blog written by little 'ole non-writer ME!! Sometimes I can't even believe I'm doing this and you are taking the time to read, thanks guys and gals!!

Thank you, Sue! Glad you're blogging! BJ

Grung_e_Gene said...

Sue, correct as usual, of course the GOP is happy to fearmonger about the XMas Day Underoos Bomber, Republicans love to see Americans die, that's what they want, then Cowardly Republicans like Pete Hoekstra use Americans fear of terrorism in political Campaign Literature.

Sue said...

You are a good friend BJ, thanks for sticking with me!

The Wool Cupboard said...

It is pretty sad when you are making light of the bomber with explosives in his undergarments. It is sub-human behavior to say that republicans want people to die. People who say things such as that have no integrity and their opinions don't count for much. They are trashing their own credibility and wasting the time spent typing up their hate speech.

Sue said...

Linda I don't know how else you would describe the republicans when they refuse to vote yay for HC reform. And don't say your party wants reform because it just ain't so!

The Wool Cupboard said...

Sue ~ I obviously disagree with your opinion. Conservatives want to reform health care, too. We feel that fixing the areas which are lacking is the best way to fix health care...not socializing a major part of our economy. The federal government has never done anything more efficiently than private enterprise has. That is the truth, and everyone needs to face facts. To accuse republicans of wanting people to die is just ridiculous and malicious.

Sue, did you ever think about what would happen to health care if the government takes it over and then goes bankrupt in the process? Who will have been helped then?

It seems to me that the dying will be done by the people who are too old to make treatment "worth" the expense. If you don't think that that will happen, then you are naive.
