Don't believe what you are hearing from the Wingnuts, Wisconsin WON last night!!

Can we stop talking about negative shit, stop Obama bashing, and just stop talking about the president period? Noooooo, Not forever, just for tonight!

Let's talk about the Righties like we're supposed to be doing!! :-)  I got this from Bold Progressives.org in an email....

Last night, we stood in a crowded square outside the state Capitol in Madison. Teachers, fire fighters, police officers, moms, and dads chanted, "This is what democracy looks like."
It was powerful. And as the election results came in, something else was clear: The voters are powerful.
When Republicans declared war on working families, we could have retreated. But together, we took the fight onto their home turf and put them on defense for a change. And in 2 of 6 Republican strongholds, we won.
History will deem last night a victory for progressives. Here are some key facts:
  • Gov. Scott Walker no longer has a working majority in the Senate. His extreme anti-worker bill passed by only 2 votes, thanks to 1 moderate Republican. Our 2 wins are game changing.
  • If last night's election was statewide, Democrats would have won in a landslide. We forced neck-and-neck races in Republican areas.
  • In 2012, if Democrats achieve last night's rate of success in Republican House districts, Speaker Nancy Pelosi will have a 274-seat majority.
  • We sent a national message that when Republican politicians hurt working families, voters will punish them -- even in Republican areas.
  • We also proved that when Democrats stand strong for progressive principles -- as Wisconsin Democrats did -- they will be rewarded by voters and volunteers.

So, out of a handful of primarily Republican districts, TWO seats were taken from those Republican districts and went BLUE, BIG BEAUTIFUL BLUE, this is a BIG DEAL people! Don't let anybody say this was a Democratic loss because they are lying.   When the time comes for the whole state to vote on Scott Walkers recall, the whole country will be watching the dedicated, hard working patriots, Wisconsin's finest!!  They are not giving up or giving in to any Rethug!

GO WISCONSIN! We are so proud of you!!

Today twitter was alive with T-baggers congratulating themselves on their "win", bashing the unions, complaining about how much money was wasted, and also a lot of "jokes" about the State Supreme Court Justice (female) who was choked by our most recently elected Supreme Court Justice (male). It was unbelievable! If we hold the two elections on the 16th of August that means we are +2. Even if we don't win either one, we are still even which will not be desirable, but hey, after what the Republican's have done to our State and the Country, square one isn't even a loss for us anymore. Anything that doesn't move us backward at this point is Forward<--Wisconsin's Motto

I am very proud of my State. We went into Republican districts, where whether or not President Obama won them in 2008 (WI was VERY BLUE in 2008), each of those Republican Senators won their seats, and beat 2 of them!

Our Governor was on every local news here in Milwaukee tonight, talking about how these elections showed that the state wants us to "work together". And he actually had the nerve to say that he is "more than welcome to working with the Democrats"...huh? what? He lies straight to the camera and the crazy crackers in this State just suck it all up. What you will never hear on the news is that the Democrats have tried to call him and work with him and he won't return their calls. He also said all talk of Recall should be over and he isn't worried about being Recalled. LOL!

I had a couple of moments of total despair this morning, then I brushed it off, because we still have work to do in this State and across the country. I just want to scream to everyone in this country, "Get UP, FIGHT! It really makes you feel good!" Until the day I die I don't think I will ever be able to recreate the feeling I had while marching around that capitol in Madison in February and March! It was AWESOME! ;)

(Oh and for those who think, they should get involved, but it really just doesn't effect them: What Governor Walker did with his dastardly Budget, does not effect me in the least. I'm not in a union, I don't have kids in public school. My daughter is almost done with College and I really don't need to pay more in property taxes to support local schools. I don't ride public transportation and I don't get Badger Care. I do not fight for myself...I got off my fat ass because what Scott Walker did WAS NOT FAIR!)

I agree, the people of Wisconsin won and scotty walker and his corporate backers, both GOPer and Koch sucker lost. Many people who didn't think the 2010 elections mattered, turned out this time, the GOPers lost 50,000 voters in those six districts, while the Democrats added voters. Little scott walkers days are numbered, and he knows it. That is why he is crying now about outa state money and people, after seeing how badly things have become for his side. Sorry scotty, but you laid down with those people you decry now, so enjoy the bed you made. And of course the limited time you have left in office, which BTW is a clue as to how the GOPer side will fare in other places when people turn up to vote.

Mary I know your passion, it is contagious! Thanks for keeping us all updated, you, and Jim too, are living this Walker nightmare that I hope ends in January!

Ain't that the truth Jerry! Well they have prayed for it afterall!

37927, good point, the GOPers lost 50,000 voters and the Dems added voters! I can't wait to see walker ousted in his recall, it's gonna be a sight for sore eyes!

You people are delusional loons! Americans are seeing liberalism for what it does to our country, finally. No matter how many lies libs tell, the results of liberal policies scream louder than all the duplicity and fear mongering. Obama will be a one term president, thank God.

a few points.... Wisconsin typically goes on vacation in August... and the voter turnout was record breaking for an off-off election. Out district recalled the biggest asshole in the State Senate with a WOMAN!!! ... in a district that has not sent a Democrat to Madison in 30 years!!! (plus, she is from my town and has been spotted in my favorite pub from time to time)

secondly... this will encourage some moderate Republicans (and there ARE some) to buck Walker's run-a-way agenda and perhaps start representing ALL of their constituents.

thirdly.... those fucking TV ads are over.

"Republicans take note. Armageddon is coming. Be prepared!"

And The Big "O" of Hope and change will be a big part of that Armageddon.

More and more people are beginning to realize that the big "O" is not the Savior they hoped and thought he would be.

Check out the info at Democracy Central, if you haven't already, for a balanced and reasoned analysis of the current situation.

It will be worth your time.

The republicans/tea party(closet republican dolts) missed a HUGE opportunity in the last 2 years. They thought that obstructionism would make them look tough, emboldened and holders of the American spirit. But in reality, they screwed themselves and the American voters(at least the ones that aren't brain-dead) are on to them and see them for what they really are: Cowards and Killers.

RN, the president is the only one who came out of this debt ceiling debacle looking fine.

Congress, and especially the Republicans in the House, are disliked intensely by the American people. Mr. Boehner's numbers took a nose dive after his incompetent handling of the issue.

Mr. Obama, you will be unhappy to hear, is actually gaining support in crucial states.

I wouldn't gloat too soon if I were you.

Shaw, according to the L.A. Times, on July 17, President Obama and the Republicans had the basis for an agreement that included 800 billion in increased revenues. But on July 19, when the gang of six came back with a plan that had more than a trillion in increased revenue, Mr. Obama claimed that this gang of six proposal changed the dynamic and insisted that the White House needed an additional 400 billion more in revenue, a tactic that ended up causing the discussions to break down.......Look, I wasn't there. I don't know if this is exactly how it happened. But, if it DID happen this way and, because of it, we ended up with the turkey that we did, then Mr. Obama's leadership on this issue really needs to examined/called into question here.......Yeah, yeah, I know, at least he ain't a knuckle-dragging Republiscum.

Sue, I followed you back from OkJimm's blog (like a stalker...) just to say that I'm not a glass half-empty person, or a glass half-full person either. Regardless of the spin we put on the Wisconsin results, the Republicans ALWAYS see the glass as theirs.

I'd like to know if your "anonymous" commenter would like to place a wager on that prediction of Obama being a one term prez? If the current crop of GOP loons (with Perry/Palin tossed in for good measure) are any indication of the opposition, Obama will easily be reelected.

I wish the Badgers nothing but good luck in their future endeavours, and beg the forgiveness of the progressives who took my cynical disappointment as some kind of negative critique of their efforts.

Mea culpa, mea culpa!

Love your blog, by the way, you just got blogrolled over at my place!

RN, we did not consider Barack Obama the big savior, Stop saying that! After 8 hideous years of zGWBush, the country was desperate for someone who actually put our needs first. The majority of the country spoke and it that majority was R's, D's and I's..get over it...

thanks Jim, no matter what the Right screams, this WAS a victory for Dems and is just the beginning of a country wide fight!

Sue said...

welcome in Squatio, and thanks, I will do the same for you!

Now I gotta go back to Jims and read my comment, I hope I wasn't rude to ya! Sometimes I get a little emotional and run the mouth, but it's all good, right?! We Libs gotta stick together!

Dave, I refuse to go to Wisconsin. I did not go for the cheese and I am certainly not going for this.
