Here's the Truth....

This is such an excellent post from The Peoples View I must share because those on the left especially who are calling Obama a caver once more, ARE WRONG and need the facts.....so here they are!

here's an important piece:
the loudest screeching noise you hear coming from Krugman and the ideologue Left is, of course, Medicare. Oh, no, the President is agreeing to a Medicare trigger!!! Oh noes!!! Everybody freak out right now! But let's look at the deal again, shall we? From the White House fact sheet, here is what the President actually agreed to.

Consistent With Past Practice, Sequester Would Be Divided Equally Between Defense and Non-Defense Programs and Exempt Social Security, Medicaid, and Low-Income Programs: Consistent with the bipartisan precedents established in the 1980s and 1990s, the sequester would be divided equally between defense and non-defense program, and it would exempt Social Security, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, programs for low-income families, and civilian and military retirement. Likewise, any cuts to Medicare would be capped and limited to the provider side.
Read that again. That's what the media and the whiners are not telling you. The President agreed to no Medicare benefit cuts in the "trigger." None. The cuts, if they automatically happen, would go to whom? The providers. Who are these providers? Doctors, hospitals, clinics, Medical device makers, service providers, drug manufacturers. Who do you think they mostly donate to in the political season? The entire pressure on these Medicare cuts are on the private medical (and pharmaceutical) industry! So let's ask that question again. The Medicare "trigger" is a trigger really from whom again? As a matter of fact, both big triggers (Defense and Medicare provider cuts) are triggers for the Republicans!

And the post ends with this...
As it turns out, if you look at the details, the President essentially gave up almost nothing in the triggers. John Boehner, as usual, put himself between two triggers (three, if you count the clock ticking on the Bush tax cuts), both bad for his party. McConnell is basically trying to sell his surrender pig with a little lipstick on. And Boehner went dancing to his conservative House morons about how great this deal is for them. But then by now, we should all have learned that John Boehner is very bad at his job, and that President Obama always eats his lunch, and leaves him there holding the teabag.

Ya gotta love it!

The triggers will only be "triggered" if the recommendations of the "super committee" are rejected. The "super committee", I believe, can cut anything from anywhere.

"Deaniac83" hasn't convinced me. Right off the bat she lets loose a barrage of insults. The "ideologue Left" is "screeching", Paul Krugman is a "political rookie" and his article is a "screed".

Not only Paul Krugman but Robert Reich have written articles saying this is a bad deal.

I've written my own post on the topic here. Basically I agree with Krugman and Reich.

I'm very doubtful that the bush tax cuts will be allowed to expire the SECOND time... and, even if they are, they've done a lot of damage. Obama should have pushed for their repeal from day one.

well, w, you're certainly entitled to your opinion but I'm on the side of Dems like Debbie-Wassermann-Schultz and Chaka Fattah who say the president did well and in the end he will have won this war.

We don't know all there is to know about the inner workings, but this is where I trust our genius president.

I'm very surprised by the hard left in Congress and their Obama bashing, very disappointed, because it doesn't look like they read the details.

Very well said and I couldn't agree more! I did a post on this deal as well on my blog. Check it out when ya get a chance!:)

Virgil! Is there anything we don't agree on?? LOL!

The good thing is we avoided default.

We'll see just how "good" the deal was down the line a bit.

But in the meantime everybody can get back to what they enjoy, campaigning. Particularly the President.

This is all about Obama winning the next election. Typical for a politician, and not helpful to the American people.

w, the super committee can not cut anything from anywhere. SS, Medicare, Medicaid and unemployment compensation are safe from any cuts. If you don't believe that then you are calling Obama a liar. I can't believe you have such little faith in what the president says. The Bush tax cuts will expire on their own in Dec. 2012. The president promised and I believe him. This is a part of his long term plan. You have to look past 2013 to see how this deal is a win win for Obama and the country.

I'm shocked at the Dems inability to see Obamas long term plan. Please read the details, read what comes in 2013. You must have lost all faith and confidence in Obamas vision. That's VERY sad! You will regret it if you turn your back like what happened in 2010 and fill our Congress with even more teabaggers!!

I want to hear what the doubters think is in the deal that's bad for the country. NOT speculation of what's to come, but FACTS!

The problem is who is going to pay the new taxes for the health care bill in 2013 especially with the new burden on businesses and more layoffs. Yeah that's a great vision for the future.
Oh that's right the wealthy can cover that too right?
The speculation is that it will only affect those making more than 200,000 and taxes on medical devices but that like every other entitlement spending will prove to be unsustainable.
I guess they can use the fines for not carying insurance to help pay for it but that is only for tax payers because by then we will probably go from 40% who don't pay taxes to 50%.

I composed a post that explains the problem I have with the deal... but it includes speculation (sorry).

In short: I think Obama WANTS to cut entitlements.

For the record, I do NOT believe the President is a liar, and I do NOT want more teabaggers elected in 2012 -- so I will vote Democratic across the board.

w, why would you say Obama WANTS to cut entitlements? He was VERY specific in the details. I'm so frustrated with the left, sorry, I don't want to be rude or sound rude.

Sue, independent of what may, or may not be coming in 2013, the fact remains that of all the public demands President Obama sought, all he was able to get taken care of today is the lifting of the debt ceiling.

Let's remember, all of that supposed good stuff Obama got, will still be subject to congressional approval that will be most likely controlled by the GOP.

If he was unable to enact his hoped for agenda with a Democratic Congress, and was unable to really move the needle on the debt reductions, why should we expect him to do better in the future?

Obama has shown himself to be unable, or unwilling to enter into the political wars at a level that can win a battle.

Dealing in the facts of today, the GOP has successfully painted President Obama as weak and not up to the challenge of the Presidency.

His poll numbers are dropping like a rock and if our economy does slide in recession as a result of this deal, prepare for President Romney or Perry.

Sorry Dave, I don't buy it. I just don't :-)
