The Senators That Don't Think Sexual Assualt is a Big Deal For Women Contractors

Al Franken made his first piece of legislation a good one. What is it? It's a bill that allows contractors of the U.S. to be held accountable for sexual assaults, battery and prejudice from happening in the workplace. Currently, contractors aren't held liable for such heinous acts upon women who are victims of this overlooked detail in the contracts they sign. More interesting is the details of the bill which targets specific contractors. Here's the bill's detail, ala Franken as it passed 68-30:

"To prohibit the use of funds for any Federal contract with Halliburton Company, KBR, Inc., any of their subsidiaries or affiliates, or any other contracting party if such contractor or a subcontractor at any tier under such contract requires that employees or independent contractors sign mandatory arbitration clauses regarding certain claims."

Would you like to know who likes to see women victimized for the sake of a company turning a quick buck? So would I. The 30 swell guys:

Alexander (R-TN)
Barrasso (R-WY)(Just go to the emergency room, they'll take care of your sexual assault, no need to push it further than that...hope you got insurance)
Bond (R-MO)(Not surprised by this one, this douchebag belongs to Limbaugh's district)
Brownback (R-KS)
Bunning (R-KY)
Burr (R-NC)
Chambliss (R-GA)
Coburn (R-OK)
Cochran (R-MS)
Corker (R-TN)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Crapo (R-ID)
DeMint (R-SC)(Traitor to women's rights and U.S. interests)
Ensign (R-NV)
Enzi (R-WY)
Graham (R-SC)(Hey, let's fuck up Iran AND women's rights, can we do that?)
Gregg (R-NH)
Inhofe (R-OK)(denies climate change AND women's rights...classy)
Isakson (R-GA)
Johanns (R-NE)
Kyl (R-AZ)
McCain (R-AZ)(Given Mad Jack's past experiences with the women in his life, again, I'm not surprised)
McConnell (R-KY)
Risch (R-ID)
Roberts (R-KS)
Sessions (R-AL)
Shelby (R-AL)
Thune (R-SD)
Vitter (R-LA)
Wicker (R-MS)

As much as I like to abuse women, as much as I so blatantly do, I find that beating up on these old cocksuckers is more fulfilling. I can do this all day, but I thought I'd just highlight my faves.

A good question to be raised out of this is would any woman be willing to set this issue aside and still vote for these douchebags when they clearly don't care about your basic rights?

You can read more colorful commentary and details from The Huffington Post who initially broke this story.

I am the Complaint Department Manager and I approve of abusing caveman Senators, as opposed to women, any day of the week.

this just goes to show how these saboteurs are bought and paid for by the globalized corps, and their fellow fascist travelers. they put the bottom line of the corps ahead of decency.

Great minds fall in the same ditch, CDM. Our articles are almost identical. :-)

TomCat - This is scary...and what's with the 4 A.M. post??? DUDE!!! You old farts and you're early rising...

Some of what you pointed out in yours sounds exactly like the conversation me and Sue had earlier this afternoon.

I gotta start doing a blogger roundup before I do another post. The shine just wore off my post.

CDM: NO!!! The shine is on your post, because I would not have known this otherwise! I see my senators made the Honorless Roll: Jim DeMint and Lindsey O. Graham. A letter-to-the-editor to the Anderson (S.C.) Independent-Mail will go off in the morning! For the ladies of the county, you know. BJ

I am not surprised either by Bond being on the list.. what I am surprised about is that Claire is not there with him.. she is getting really good about being next to him on everything anymore.

This is really pretty typical of the core rethugs.. they are all about keeping the "little woman" at home and you know the old expression.. barefoot and pregnant. Well.. geeze, women are supposed to submit to the men... so where is the rape.. /snark off.

OK, guys, this is off this topic, but do you hear the sound of thousands of heads exploding? That's the wingnuts reaction to Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize today. Yay!

Olympics what...?

The Wool Cupboard said...

Predictable...so predictable. The low levels to which you stoop is just nauseating.

The conservatives did not vote for this bill with its large number of amendments precisely because of some of the amendments that had been added onto it by liberals. The conservatives had concerns about the LOWER requests for funding by the President with regard to troop funding. They also questioned the time frame with which decisions about troop increases in Afghanistan would be handled. The President is dragging his indecisive feet about that important matter. Maybe he was waiting until he was named the winner for his Nobel Peace Prize (snicker, snicker). Can't look like a war hawk with a NPP in the balance.

No one wants to support rape except liberals who support Kevin Jennings' appointment as Obama's Safe School Czar. His advice to a 15 yr. old student having sex with an older man was..."well, were you wearing a condom?" Where was his outrage at the statutory rape committed in this situation and the pursuit of justice for this child...not to mention the pathetic moral "advice" from one of Obama's "best".

Quit, I'm blushing. Who needs blogging awards with praise like that.

Actually Linda, jeff sessions has a different take on it than you state.

Try again. There's more, but try again.

C, I like doing research early in the morning when it's completely quiet here.

The shine on your post looks just fine from here.

Linda, it was not the bill that conservatives voted against. The Senators Sue listed voted against the specific amendment that would not allow corporations to get federal contracts unless they allowed employees raped in the workplace to have their day in court. It isn't that these Republicans support rape. It's that they considered it less important than profit.

TC ~ **"It isn't that these Republicans support rape. It's that they considered it less important than profit."**

You misunderstand. The republicans voted against the bill because of some of the amendments having to do with funding the war effort and the fact that nothing was going to be done soon to help support the troops. THAT was the reason...not because they were thinking of profit margins. How do you know why they voted the way they voted anyway...assumption based on your preconceived ideas about these republicans??? I happen to have read some reports on what the objections to the legislation were. That is where I got my info.

NEWS FLASH---NEWS FLASH--- Funding the war effort, does not equate to supporting our troops.
It is killing our troops, along with an untold amount of civilians.

WAR IS PEACE---PEACE IS WAR---.

The Wool Cupboard said...

RZ ~ Surprise...more pacifist mumbo jumbo.

Hey! Over 3000 CIVILIANS were killed on 9/11.

The troops have volunteered to sacrifice for our freedoms, so I don't think it is too much to ask that we properly fund their needs and have a timetable for sending in reinforcements to help them, do you??!! The whole point is to get rid of the enemy with as few losses on our side and in the civilian population, as well...I don't suppose you believe that either.

Tao Dao Man said...

What was it that RUMMY said??? ----you do not go with the army you want. you go with the army you got---please do not tell me about funding the troops. rove and his ilk used the [[[support our troops ]]] banner to escalate the wars. no more no less. ---oh and by the way i am not a pacifist. I just do not believe in a war of CHOICE that the shrub/cheney regime manufactured.

Sue said...

Scream it to the roof tops RZ!! Wasn't it Bush/Cheney who sent our troops to their war of choice with no body armor??

Tao Dao Man said...

oh please. please. i beg of you. ---do not get me started on this. please i beg you on my bended knees.

Tao Dao Man said...

oh well ok---now remember i am showing this under severe duress---this may or may not be held against me.

this video may be rated r or x. [[[the masters of war]]]]

i had one by dylan but theytook it down. it now says this video may no linger be showed in your country. so i found this one by PEARL JAM.
maybe you can show this on your site? i do not know how to put up videos. lol

Sue said...

RZ it's the liberal, thoughtful, caring side of me that was horrified by just the first couple minutes of that video. I could never put that here for viewers, it would make them sick. Our country needs to be ashamed of itself, and for conservatives to say we need to shut up and stop apologizing for America, well I say you need to SHUT UP and if you can't maybe YOU need to see that horrific video!! I AM ASHAMED of the things our great nation has done.

Tao Dao Man said...

SUE; you see that is where i disagree. just like the pictures of Abu Graib, and Gitmo. they must be shown. htey should not be hidden under the carpet. the Obama regime is now against showing them. they want to turn the page on this horrific part of our history. the SHRUBITES definately do not want it to be shown. I say, show it all. show it to the world. We have to learn from our prior sins, else we can not truly go on. the SHRUB and CHENEY condoned this, they must be held accountable.

Sue said...

RZ I totally agree about the Bush/Cheney evil empire and the things they did. I'm with you on Obamas decisions, but I'm still waiting on that. I think Shrub and Dick and company will pay somehow for their atrocities. I think anyone who wanted to see the videos has already seen it, I for one can't keep looking at it. Its so unbelievable to me how anyone can condone it, even if they are terrorists. Its still sickening and yes horrific! Dick and Liz, they love it and probably show theses videos at family gatherings...

Tao Dao Man said...

it took me a while. but i figured out how to put it up. LOL perhaps i am more [RADICAL] than you are. i believe i am a little older than you, and perhaps from a more to the streets kind of guy. well it is up, it will be interesting to see if i get any comments on it. maybe some of my old crew will show up. i am still rather new at this blogging stuff.

THEY TORTURED PEOPLE IN ORDER TO GET FALSE CONFESSIONS OUT OF PEOPLE IN ORDER FOR THEM TO TIE 9/11 TO IRAQ.
WHO IN THE EFF COMES UP WITH THIS STUFF.
