Tonight on Rev. Al Sharpton's show was guest Mayor Michael Bloomberg, he said this when Sharpton asked him what he thought of President Obama.....
"I think the president was dealt a very difficult hand. I think he cares, I think he's trying very hard. Some things he's done I agree with, some things he's done I haven't agreed with. But that would be, that's like you and me. But I think he's our president and we have to step back and say whether we voted for Barack Obama or not, whether we agree with Barack Obama or not, whether we like Barack Obama or not he is our elected president and our success, your children's success, and your grandchildren's success depends on he being a good president while he is in office. You may want to change presidents, you yourself may want to run against him, that's fine, you can do that in a campaign. But you also have a responsibility as an American to make him be successful because the country is not successful if the president is not successful. Remember, the president is the representative of all of us, he symbolizes everything about America to the rest of the world and to you and me. And so is not treating the president with respect, not listening to the president, not letting the president lead and saying I don't agree with everything, I'll get him to change some of the things, you can't have a successful democracy and it's not good for the country. I find some people.. one guy said, one columnist, I won't dignify it with saying who it was.. he said I hope the president fails..What are you talking about?? You are talking about my kids and my grandkids"....
Amen Mayor Bloomberg, Amen...
Not only columnists saying they hope President Obama fails, but our elected GOP leaders in Washington are saying they want our president to fail, to be a one termer...So when it takes President Obama 2 full terms to move his agenda forward, remember why it took that long....
Sadly this week we have Democratic members of Congress criticizing President Obama's jobs bill too....
Just more of the same, members of Congress worried about their campaign contributors and re-elections than they are the American people and their joblessness, homelessness, and how our country faces poverty. Come on Democrats, start acting like DEMOCRATS!!!

Republicans put themselves above the the people and the country. Party first, country and people second.
yes they do Jerry, they are hideous people, who votes for those hideous people anyway??
The "Blue Dick" contingent is to be dismissed and ignored. It should escape no one's attention that most of the Congressional losses in 2010 happened to be "Blue Dick" dems. Unfortunately (or perhaps it makes no difference?), we can expect a few more of them to be offed in this cycle, for failing to stand up for Democratic principles.
Yes JR, the bluedicks are talking shit. You watch...if they stop this bill it won't be Obama who gets blamed. How dare they not stand with THEIR president! You never see the Republiscums acting like that when their guy is prez!
I'm not familiar with some of those Dems quoted in that article but Manchin of West Va is a DINO of the worst order - and that leads me to wonder about the rest of them.
My representative is a Blue Dog, not a Blue "Dick." If he weren't such a critter in this state, there would be a Tea Bagger sitting in his seat which would be far worse. Except for his fiscal conservatism, he's quite good at what he does and totally honorable.
I don't always agree with Hiz Honor, but in general he seems to have a pretty cool head most of the time.
that's the problem L, if these districts are Republican districts and a Bluedog holds the seat, if he is ousted the seat would probably go to a teabagger, which is worse but not by much the way these "dicks" are acting.
Too many "Democrats" are just corporatist lackeys. We need to strengthen the pro-democracy roots of the Democratic Party and turn the party back into representatives of the people.
Any Dem who speaks against corporate personhood and cash as free speech is pro-democracy. These are the issues to present at town halls or interviews. Ending corporate personhood and campaign cash corruption are essential in restoring democracy.
Despite being a Blue Dog, he has:
-voted against banning federal health coverage that includes abortion
-voted for embryonic stem cell research
-voted yes on 2009 additional anti-recession stimulus spending
-voted yes on letting shareholders vote on executive compensation
-voted for green public schools
-voted against opening Outer Continental Shelf to oil drilling
-voted against barring EPA from regulating greenhouse gasses
He is very strong on civil rights and environmental issues - weak or mixed in oil & gas and immigration.
He was also extensively interviewed by CBS and the NY Times recently about his call for more civility and respect. So, should I work to unseat this "dick" because I don't always agree with him?
Yes Dave, you're right. When I look at the 2 parties I want to see a stark difference.
Leslie, not all Bluedogs are dicks, I didn't say if he's a Bluedog he's sure to be a dick. There are Bluedogs with their priorities in order and your rep. looks like he's made good choices. You have to look at the record and then can determine whether or not they deserve their seat. Dems do have to be careful, ousting a Bluedog and replacing him/her with a teabagger is NOT what we want happening.
President Bloomberg. Now THAT'S got a nice ring to it.
Michael Bloomberg's comments were intelligent and rational. In other words, what he said will fall on deaf ears with a majority of the GOP and their base.
Bloomberg should become a Democrat. He might be a blue dog, but he will be better accepted as a Democrat than he is as a republican.
