1:20 in.....WE ARE NOT AT WAR WITH ISLAM! Tell that to the bigots in America, Mr. President...
So because a handful of terrorists calling themselves Al Qaeda murdered almost 3,000 people in NYC on 9/11/01, there are some here in America who have waged war on all of Islam, and with our American Muslim citizens. Does this seem to have festered and grown since the election of Barack Obama? Oh yes, sadly it has.
Before '08 would the country have been in an uproar over a community center in NYC with a prayer room for Muslims? No, I doubt it, because G W Bush told us Islam was a peaceful religion and we had nothing to fear from our Muslim citizens. It's just since the election of Barack Obama.....
Before '08 would a fanatic church leader call for burning Korans on the anniversary of 9/11? Not to my knowledge has that happened until this year, is it because these fanatics hate our president, to them he represents a radical, a Muslim radical. Sad, but true.
American Muslims are fighting side by side in Afghanistan with the fanatics sons, brothers, dads, uncles....but they don't care, they don't even see that far, all they see is their hate for ALL Muslims. They talk about the radical side of Islam like its the ONLY side of Islam.
Listen to the passionate plea of our president in the video clip. America is not at war with Islam. Why did the fanatics believe Bush but they won't believe Obama?
How many Muslims are there around the world? The Pew Forum estimates 1.57 billion as a reliable number, as of mid 2010. Muslims represent 22% of the worlds population and are the second largest religion in the world. Only Christianity is larger with 33% of the worlds inhabitants.
It's time for Christians to start acting like Christians, not like holier-than-thou bigots.
"Islam is peace." --George W. Bush, September 17, 2001
"Some of the comments that have been uttered about Islam do not reflect the sentiments of my government or the sentiments of most Americans. Islam, as practiced by the vast majority of people, is a peaceful religion, a religion that respects others. Ours is a country based upon tolerance and we welcome people of all faiths in America."
-Remarks by President George W. Bush in a statement to reporters during a meeting with U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan The Oval Office, Washington, DC November 13, 2002
"Islam is a vibrant faith. Millions of our fellow citizens are Muslim. We respect the faith. We honor its traditions. Our enemy does not. Our enemy doesn't follow the great traditions of Islam. They've hijacked a great religion."
-Remarks by President George W. Bush on U.S. Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan Presidential Hall, Dwight David Eisenhower Executive Office Building, Washington, D.C. October 11, 2002
Mr. Bush defended Islam quite strongly after 9/11 and beyond.
I never heard conservatives howling about his defense of the Muslim religion at that time.
No one likes to hear this--but I still believe there's a reason for conservatives not saying anything about Mr. Bush's defense of Islam and their rage over Mr. Obama when he says ANYTHING about Islam.
Actually, there are two reasons.
Mr. Obama's name and the color of his skin.
What other reason can there be for this double standard?
In full agreement with Shaw and Sue about name and skin color.
I had a nice long phone chat last night with my niece who lives in a Southern “red state.” She relayed comments about Obama she is hering every day by people there. She said most say they hate him and cannot wait for November when Republicans are “going to take back this country and straighten out the economy.”
Above all else, the problem is IGRORANCE – the unwillingness to study both sides of an issue. I am certain not one of them read the NYC imam’s op-ed piece in the New York Times. Why should they? They might have learned something about both his intentions and the kind of person he is.
BJ don't ya just want to take people like that and shake the hell outta them???!!! THEY ARE SO STUPID!! How can Americans NOT SEE the economic mess is caused by GOP policies??? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!
It's Obama, not a crackpot preacher far from the corridors of power, who authorized the Predator drone air attacks in Pakistan that have killed hundreds of civilians. It's Obama who kept his campaign promise to escalate the war in Afghanistan. It's Obama who has continued to carry out George W. Bush-era policies justifying the use of torture against the mostly Middle Eastern enemies of the U.S. in the so-called "war on terror."
Just click the captions and you'll link up videos of those guys who told the world who's responsible....and one of whom, a prominent conservative of the day...said America got "probably what we deserved".
A) Because he's black and B) because they think he's a Muslim. That's it.
The truth of the matter is that the Muslims have every right to build a mosque where ever the fluck they want to. The Constitution guarantees the right to practice your faith, freely.
SF I am well aware of the radical Muslims around the globe. But here in civilized America our American Muslims are no different than you or I, in fact they are probably much more reserved and cautious because they must live amongst bigots!

We are not at war with Islam?
The Pakistanis who are outraged over Obama's bombing campaign against them would disagree.
From the Socialist Worker:
