I hope you don't choose jail over insurance!

The HC bill passed in the House, as we all know by now. That's a good thing as Martha would say!

I keep getting this comment from my resident troll lisa. She would like to know how we feel about large fines levied on us, or even jail time if we don't buy health insurance.

First off lisa, we have a long fight ahead of us before President Obama signs the bill. Second, we don't know what the final bill will say about fines and jail time. But I would like to say this, if a person like yourself does not have insurance and something catastrophic happens to you and you need to be hospitalized, then who will pay your bills? What happens today is the hospital will not turn you away but we the taxpayers would have to pay your bills. Does that not make sense for all Americans to carry insurance? With the new bill insurance will be affordable so we all can be covered and can take responsibility for ourselves, not every Tom, Dick and Harry. Isn't that what Repubs want? NOT to have to take care of anyone but themselves? Isn't it unfair for you to get sick and your hospital bills are in the hundreds of thousands and we have to pay them?

It's a new America lisa, take responsibilty for yourself, buy your new affordable insurance policy then you can get as sick as you want and it won't bother us at all because you'll be COVERED!! YAY!

So you' better get yours too Sue. The fact that you can get a 250,00 fine and possible jail time is ridiculous. The fct that it is even in there like that is ridiculous. Jail Time? Welcome to your new Democracy.
I should be able to do what the illegals do.

This is not as different from normal practice as it sounds. You can't opt out of police and fire protection and keep the part of your taxes that would otherwise support them, because those services have to provide a seamless cover to a whole population. Try to withhold that portion of your taxes, and you'll get criminally charged too.

The only real difference with health insurance is that, unlike with police and fire protection, people will still have the choice to buy from private-sector insurance companies rather than the public option if they prefer -- something I assume conservatives don't disapprove of.

What "Infidel" said. Gotta have car insurance as well. Fines and possible jail if you don't here in the communist, possibly secessionist state of Texas under Darth Perry!

Sue said...

lisa what did you mean by 250,00? It's NOT a fact YET, you have no idea what will be in the final bill. Of course I will be insured, it's for MY benefit.

Yes Infidel and willis, we have to have car insurance inorder to register your car and drive legally, and you have to have homeowners insurance or you can't get a mortgage, 2 examples repubs don't use.

Sue, have you not noticed that Lisa loves to throw BS figures like that out there. It's totally in her convoluted mind. Besides the misplace comma, just where did you get that figure Lisa?

With Infidel, there is nothing ominous regards this.

Sue said...

hi jadedj! I haven't had a chance to say hi and welcome, thanks so much for commenting too!
Yes lisa is my troll but I think she enjoys the title and loves when you engage her in conversation, but I refrain most of the time!

$250,000 fine?
Crikey! I'll have to sell my body to science to pay....or could they give me a tax credit for future services rendered?

Sue said...

Hugh I don't know where lisa meant her comma to be placed! I don't know where she gets her info, she has friends on the 'inside' I guess!

A lot of false information floating around here. First of all, President Obama is against this part of the bill that requires that every individual or family has insurance. He thinks it is unfair to lower income families, and it is. This is a very flawed bill on that alone. This is Max Baucus's addition and is a compromise for democratic moderates. The fines are $750 for individuals and $1500 for families, unless the household income exeeds 66,000 dollars a year then the fine goes up to $950 per indiv. and $3800 for the family.
Not to burst your bubble, but why get so insane about having to pay and uninsured person's emergency health needs when we already do. Our tax dollars pay for every illegal alien who needs medical care here in AZ. They show up to the emergency room for a common cold and you are already footing that bill. So if the new system requires coverage and the American tax payer is already footing the bill, what is the difference? We pay the bill NOW for the uninsured or we pay for the INSURED under the new system, tax dollars are tax dollars...it's an oxy-moron. The old boss is the same as the new boss. Only the tax bill is much higher for the American tax payer under the new plan. Just thought I would mention that.

Sue ~ Your lack of clear thinking is showing! You said:

"What happens today is the hospital will not turn you away but we the taxpayers would have to pay your bills."

And this makes you angry, right? The really ironic part is that you are going to be taxed much more if this power-grab gets passed in the Senate and you will be paying not only for those who show up in emergency rooms uninsured, but you will be paying for the huge influx of new people being forced into coverage! I don't understand liberals...why doesn't this make sense to you? Why can't you see that this is not a solution at all, but a much, much BIGGER problem to pay for? The wise way to solve this is to change insurance company laws a bit to stop the abuses, allow insurance to be sold across state lines, stop the ambulance chasing lawyers from making their windfall profits, and then let the free market work as it always has. That would be reform that would work!

Linda and Nikki stop making sense please.
But let me add to that when the "government" reimburses doctors even less under the "Medicaid for all" program many are looking forward to early retirement and less will be going into th medical field.
And if you thinkit will cost 1.2 tillion dollars you can also forget
about that lie. It will be alot more.
So the BS arguement that it will lower costs and give us more choice is just more buzz wording to make us feel all warm and fuzzy.
These democrats are so full of it. It's so obvious they don't want to "fix" the healthcare system. They want a socialized program to please the socialists who backed this president.
After all he needs to get the Nobel Peace Prize from them too.
I just can't wait to see down the road when we are spreading the wealth(the little we have)aroud the country and around the world through that other monster coming down the pike called Cap and Trade under the guise of "helping the enviroment" will it still be Bush's fault or will you finally realize who are the ones jerking us around?
MMMMMMMM,MMMMMMM,MMMMMMMM!!!!

Sue said...

it's so amusing to hear you all telling us whats in the final bill and how the country will fall apart because people will be insured. Its typical rethug fearmongering, you have such fear of change you can't even welcome GOOD change. Dems woulda pushed harder for single payer if we were evil socialists like you believe. Wooooooooo we're so scary!!!!

Nikki said...

I didn't say anything about the country falling apart. I just clarified a few facts. People should have their opinions as well as predictions about posing legislation, it isn't a crime nor is it fear-mongering.

Sue said...

actually Nik, Linda is the fear-monger.

Glad to have you here commenting, you miss me don't ya!! lol

Lisa said...

Sue if they pushed for Single Payer now they know the would lose more support for it.
As it stands if private insurance has to compete with the government then eventually there will be no choice but to go n a government plan. Yes Socialized Medicine.
And another tid bit of information we now have 15 million unemployed and all these income tax and payroll tax mandates they are proposing will further the unemployment rolls.
Not to mention the energy tax they want.
What good is health care without jobs to buy food and shelter?
How is this something you think will be good? Even China does free market better than us.

Okay this is getting too serious. I think we all could use a little humor:

Lisa, you said
"As it stands if private insurance has to compete with the government then eventually there will be no choice but to go n a government plan."

If you are correct, then it means that the government plan is better than the private plans. People would be free to choose. If private insurance provided better value then people would choose it over the government plan.

If private insurance can't measure up to government insurance, why should we continue to support an industry that is inferior? If private insurance can do better, good for them. They will continue to thrive. Either way,the people will get the best possible outcome.

Isn't that what we both want?

Lisa said...

Jerry that means the government can compete with any industry of it's choosing.
What's to stop them when they have an endless source of revenue?
I understand people deserve health care but I am tired of it and I believe they are trying to wear us down but many of us are not giving up.
They don't want reform or else they would do that to bring down costs. They want control. This is more than Healthcare. Agree or not ,I have done my research. I may say things people don't like but I have very keen insight about things.
And what I see in Washington is nothing more than a bunch of power hungry liberals who think they are above the citizens. I don't like it. It stinks and if you think they are on the right path then power to you. But from where I am I believe they are purposely creating a bigger crisis to gain control.
You can disagree with me but the economy should be first and foremost because without that there is nothing.
Next we will move on to a false energy shortage to really weaken us. Just wait you'll see. None of us are immune to it.

Jerry Critter said...

Lisa,
It seems to me that your fears are misdirected.

Health Care - Our health care is currently controlled by the large health care private companies, not the government. If the private companies provided good affordable health care, the government would not need to, nor could it, get involved.

Economy - The economy crashed due to the actions of the private financial companies and lack of government oversight. The government did not create the problem in order to take over the financial system.

Energy - Again, energy is controlled by large, multinational corporations. If the corporations provided plenty of cheap energy, they could easily dispel any notion of an energy shortage.

The problem is with the companies that currently control health care, financial systems, and energy, not a perceived future take over by the government.

If private industry would do its job for the benefit of the people, government will not be able to take over.

Pressure the people currently in control, not a perceived tyrant of the future.

Lisa said...

SI beleive we are misdirected for sure. I also know what I see and it seems they want this no matter how good or bad the economy is.

Lisa said...

But I also think they are doing their best to make it further decline.
They want regulation fine but I don't like the idea of government taking over private industry.
I guess you didn't think Fannie and Freddie played a hand in the economy either?

So yes I blame the governemnt.
I suppose you think the FDIC is part of the private sector?

READ THIS!!!

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704795604574519671055918380.html

We all know that the "final" plan hasn't been written yet, but in so many words...yes it has. It will all be EXPENSIVE, INEFFICIENT, IMPERSONAL, LIMITING, AND DANGEROUS.

Americans need to stand up and demand that lawmakers listen to them and stop taking away their rights in order to make the democrat party more powerful and their taxes more confiscatory. People who just sit back and take this abuse from their government will find their liberty gone, and I mean gone for good. Read everything you can about this bill and actually read the bill if you can to see for yourself what evil the government is foisting upon us. This will truly be a matter of life and death. The Founding Fathers are probably spinning in their graves to see the injustices of this administration.

Sue said...

ya know what Linda, I was just telling myself 15 minutes ago how I have been listening to news most of the day and even a woman on Fox said this bill is soooooo needed to bring down costs and will actually lower the deficit after 10 years being deficit neutral. I'm trying to gather some info to do another post for you fearmonger disbelievers!

Sue ~ Why don't you just save me some time and tell me if there are any conservatives that you will accept as a legitimate source of information. I have quoted ABC news, the BBC, The Wall Street Journal, and many other sources, (some of which are liberal!!!) and all I have gotten from you and your cronies is complaints. Unless it comes from an Obama lover, you won't accept any information anyway...WHO is being narrow-minded and doesn't really want the truth? You will only accept opinions from socialist Obama supporters. Way to see both sides and dig for the truth!

Sue said...

as long as your sources are just giving assumptions on what the final bill will look like then yes, I will always choose to trust my party and my president. sorry. As long as the bill brings down costs, forces insurance companies to put the people before profits, and there is competition to achieve these things, then I'm all for it. The icing on the cake is deficit neutral for the first 10 years, then lower the deficit after that.

Frodo, the tax man cometh, said...

A query for Lisa (the Howler Monkey), how many people are in jail in America for failing to pay their Social Security taxes? It is, after all, mandatory, isn't it? It was a Democratic Party invention forced upon all, wasn't it?

You know Lisa (the uninformed Howler Monkey), this nation was settled by people who fled the idea of a debtor's prison, so that's one big reasons we don't put people into jail for failing to pay taxes (we do so for those who willfully avoid taxation, just to keep you from popping another blood vessel).

So, why would any reasonably intelligent simian believe that we are going to throw people into jail because they fail to pay an assessment that may or may not be part of proposed legislation?

Frodo supposes that is only something you can answer; which he awaits with baited breath (and a pack of Gelusils).

Linda, Betsy McCaughey??? You are kidding right???

Of course someone with actual experience with the medical field knows nothing compared to the Messiah.

Sue said...

lisa, you and Linda surely can do better than Betsy can't you??? Betsy McCaughey is a famous liar who famously lied about the Clinton health care bill back in the 1990s, who has returned to lie just as famously in the aughts about the Obama health care bill.

Lisa said...

They are lies? Really. Who says?

Lisa said...

Of courswe this will bring down deficits. You can only do that by reducing spending and increasing taxes. Hence rationed care and higher taxes to pay for that rationed care.
