NO unemployment extension for YOU!

I wonder, how many unemployed Americans who continue to get fucked by the GOP, voted to put those despicable excuses for Americans back in power?? I told myself to sit down with a cup of coffee, stay off the computer tonight and just relax, it is afterall my TGIT. WELL, after watching the first 10 minutes of Ed Schultz and his report on the failed unemployment extension, here I sit!  The measure failed in the House leaving 4 million Americans sitting and waiting in fear as their benefits are set to expire right after Thanksgiving.

Only 4% of the people want the government to concentrate their efforts on reducing the deficit. ONLY 4%! So what do the rethugs do,  they deny 4 million Americans an extension to keep them afloat. The legislation would have cost about $12.5 billion to extend the deadline to file for federal unemployment benefits from Dec. 1 until Feb. 28,  a measly pittance, giving the unemployed around 300 to 400 a week in benefit payment, INSURANCE, meaning these people PAID into the program! Never before has the government turned it's back on the suffering in times of such high unemployment. This is unprecedented, and especially at a time those thugs will be standing up in Congress fighting to give the top 2% of wealthy Americans their tax cuts, tax cuts that will cost 700 billion!!

NOW, let me point out some wingnuts like to blame Nancy Pelosi because 11 democrats voted against the measure and 7 democrats did not vote at all. But to be fair, WHY do all these measures have to have 100% democrat support or Nancy Pelosi is blamed? If we just had a simple majority of rethugs voting to help their fellow Americans Congress might be able to get some work done! That's RIGHT, I am a partisan and I blame the fuckin Republicans for all these failed bills! Just 17 votes short, that's all, 17 votes from republicans could have moved the measure to help suffering Americans! The GOP has been the party of NO for 2 years and plan on being the party of hate and total disregard for Americans for the next 2 years too. NOTHING will change as long as Americans keep giving republicans a chance to PROVE they don't care about them!

So what's next on the thug agenda? They will demand the tax cuts to the rich be extended and quite possibly be permanent and OH just to be nice they will offer up an UI extension addition!   Don't do it Democrats, do not fall for their hideous game playing! I would rather see all the tax cuts expire then see the rich get their cuts!

Nancy Pelosi said,
“Our first priority is to create jobs; the American people want to get back to work. Unemployment Insurance is a proven economic booster, returning $2 into the economy for every $1 invested.  We will continue to work for an emergency short-term extension to get families through the holidays and to work for longer term solutions as well.”

The current benefits are scheduled to expire Nov. 30, so the House will still have two legislative days to try to prevent the benefits from expiring when Congress returns to finish the Lame Duck session after Thanksgiving.
It's the holidays coming up, Americans are suffering, I am mortified our government and political parties don't fight harder for us. It's pathetic!

I've been exposing the republican base since 2006 Sue. The bigots, idiots, religious zealots and homophobes. I do need to add pricks to this group.

Pricks love misery. That's why they vote republican. Republicans are excellent at fomenting and spreading misery. Whether it be ending unemployment benefits. Making laws so it's harder for those in financial straights to file bankruptcy. Ever notice how a company's stock goes up when it annopunces massive layoffs.

These kooks live to hate and spread misery.

the thugs themselves expose their hate of America every day in the way they vote, so those who love them and vote for them are no better. they get what they deserve, I just hope they are suffering to the extent they learn from their mistakes. but I doubt they will, God tells them to vote rethuglican and they listen...

It never ceases to amaze me of all the people who bitch about lack of jobs and unemployment insurance and they blame democrats.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!?

These dipshits need to be tagged in the head with a fungo bat. As an added bonus, they should pimp themselves out in the most dispacable ways to get paid.(Look at Snooki)

Republicans want to extend the Bush tax cuts which return $0.31 for every dollar spent while they refuse to extend unemployment benefits that return $1.63 for every dollar spent.

Besides the inhumanity of it all, where is the economic sense?

All I keep thinking is how many of these unemployed "lazy bums" will spend Christmas on the streets! At least the Churches will be full this Christmas, all the homeless will need a place to warm up for an hour or two.

There is truth to the Rushpubliscums actually wanting more misery. They are miserable people, and it makes them feel better about themselves to see other people get kicked in the teeth.

IOW, they'll happily burn their own houses down if it means you'll be on the street too.

Yes, and dickwad, soon-to-be Repug Representative, Andy Harris, is demanding to know why his government-subsidized health care plan takes a month to kick in after he takes office.

The uncaring bastards are so transparent it boggles the brain that anyone can't see it.

Ya know Maryb1161, I take exception to being called a "lazy bum". I lost my job after 22 years and this is the 1st time I have ever collected unemployment. I am not sitting on my ass collecting checks, I am searching for employment every day. Must be nice to be you.

anonymous you have taken Marys comment the wrong way. She's just repeating what the rethugs think about the unemployed, they call the long term unemployed just sitting back collecting their huge check, sometimes a ginormous 300 a week, lazy bums not looking for work.

The Democrats should be raising pluperfect hell about this, especially with Republicans stonewalling on the upper-income tax cuts at the same time they're doing this. It perfectly encapsulates why the right's ideology doesn't serve the interests of most Americans.

JC: Republicans want to extend the Bush tax cuts which return $0.31 for every dollar spent while they refuse to extend unemployment benefits that return $1.63 for every dollar spent.

Clearly it's not a matter of economic sense any more. All taxes bad, all spending cuts good -- it's like a religious dogma with these people. It doesn't matter what the real-world effects are.

Sue said...

When will thinking Americans see through the republican party? All they know is tax cuts. They don't even hide it, they come right out like a rep. from Florida on O'Donnells show last night said he will vote for just tax cuts to the rich if forced because it will serve the nation well!! (not his exact words but it's exactly what he meant!)OMG!! They are disgraceful as they sit and count their millions while the unemployed will not have Christmas this year!!! What is wrong with our society??

Jerry Critter said...

It is a religious dogma only when they are not in control. Otherwise it is spend, spend, spend financed with huge deficits. And the spend it on war and killing and feeding their corporate overlords.

It always comes down to the same thing. Every penny Democrats spend on someone, who needs and deserves help, is a penny Republicans can't give to a millionaire, that neither needs nor deserves it.

No matter which party is in power the authorities from the whole political spectrum should pay much more attention to such an important issue as unemployment benefits. Especially now when a large number of countries are plagued by high levels of unemployment the governments should work hard to minimize the effects of the crisis on the lives of the unemployed.

you are so right Lorne. Thanks for the comment!
