Scaredy Cats

GOP postpones summit with President Obama!

The roots of the partisan standoff that led to the postponement of the bipartisan White House summit scheduled for Thursday date back to January, when President Barack Obama dominated a GOP meeting in Baltimore to deliver a humiliating rebuke of House Republicans.

That Is one lame excuse!

So, the GOP fears a one on one with the president? I think it's because they feel so inadequate, they want to be the big bad GOP with a so-called mandate, but the truth is there is no mandate.
According to a CNN opinion poll only 17% of Americans believe the midterm elections gave a mandate to the GOP, they still find it necessary to degrade the office of the presidency by spitting on Obama's extended hand. This is just the beginning, the next 2 years of nothing getting done will be on the backs of the GOP. They have no idea how to move forward even with their House majority. They NEED more time before meeting with Obama, so of course the president will accommodate them, again....

I think this kind of action, or non-action, will backfire on the GOP. Polls have shown that voters aren't happy with either party in Congress but the GOP has particularly low approval ratings even amongst their own members. This kind of political game playing and obstructionism will hurt them in the long run. Of course it is the whole country that gets hurt. But I do think most people, including intelligent Republicans, are tired of it and see the damage it is doing.

i do not agree tnlib...

i think a majority of republicans are very happy that their party is opposing pres. obama at every turn and have no desire at all for bi partisanship.

they are doing what their people want and what they believe they need to do in order to win back the senate and the white house in 2012.

but i hope it hurts them badly...

I have to disagree as well. These slugs are only delaying so they can find even better ways to screw bama and all the rest of us. The is no good in any on the right who serve in congress.

They are delaying because they are afraid that Obama will school them again. I bet they are trying to keep any Press and/or cameras out of the meeting.

They are a bunch of scaredy-cat little girls.

Come on republicans. It is time to "man-up".

Ahhhh, for the the good ole days! When Lyndon Johnson would summon congressmen and senators from both parties to the Oval Office, and they jumped....because if they didn't the first time, Johnson would grab them by the lapel, look 'em in the eyes and say very slowly....."How dare you disrespect the office of the President of the United States- you little piss ant!".

Sorry...just getting old and nostalgic.

I agree with Dave and Onefly. The GOP have a tendency to double down on dumb while folding their arms saying, "That's my story and I'm sticking to it."

I find the whole thing about as amusing as hearing the phrase: Sarah Palin brain trust.

I think it looks terrible for the GOP to give the president the finger, and yes the party loves it, so do the conservative voters who hate our president. The GOP has nothing to offer, even with a majority they can't put their pink panties on right...

If the republicans had anything to offer, they would jump at the chance to meet with Obama. It would give them a chance to show the American people that they are right and Obama is wrong. Put him on the spot. Offer comprehensive programs that the American people would support.

LOL. Who am I kidding? We are talking about republicans, aren't we. They have no interest in programs that help American people. They only offer the same old stuff that got us in this mess in the first place -- tax cuts and deregulation.

No wonder they don't want to talk.

YES YES YES Jerry!

I think we have to distinguish between moderate Republicans and the ones in Congress along with the extreme right. I know a lot of traditional Republicans who are very concerned over the direction their party is headed and who don't wish to see this kind of dog and pony show continue.

Ah, see, now you're on the right track. Fasten your seat belts folks, this ride hasn't left the station yet, it WILL get even more messed up. Our newspaper here already showed a picture of 7th district billy long being real chummy with Nancy Pelosi. After the shit he said about her during his campaign....just wait for it.
