Carter: Race plays role in Obama dislike

In an interview with NBC's Brian Williams, former Democratic President Jimmy Carter attributed much of the conservative opposition that President Obama is receiving to the issue of race.
"I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man," Carter said. "I live in the South, and I've seen the South come a long way, and I've seen the rest of the country that share the South's attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African Americans."
Carter continued, "And that racism inclination still exists. And I think it's bubbled up to the surface because of the belief among many white people, not just in the South but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It's an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply.
You have not heard the end of this I'm sure! Ya know what conservatives, maybe if you continue to claim Obamas policies are the reason you hate him then maybe you should start looking for some kind of leadership who will find Carters observations false. In the meantime I find President Carters claims unequivocally CORRECT!!

Admittingly, Carter was one of the worst Presidents ever. BUT, after office he's shown BEYOND a shadow of a doubt that he is a man of the people, for the people. Quite possibly the best post-oval office leadership EVER!
South Carolina has a long list of dignitaries that includes Lauren Caitlin Upton (Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant contestant), Board of Education Chair, Kristin Maguire, Governor (and avid Appalachian hiker), Mark Sanford and now Joe “the hater not a debater” Wilson or the “screamer not the dreamer” as others have dubbed him. I did enjoy him cut and running through his apology, which only goes to show that he stands for nothing. He is just another good old boy where in the morning these married men preach to you that there should be prayer in our schools and in the evening they are on their cell phones setting up a date with their other women on the side, hypocrisy has been bred in. I am not surprised that he felt compel to yell like he was at some Friday night game. So long Joey, you too will be seeing the unemployment lines.

As to your raving in this dialogue, President Carter was unable to solve either the Oil Cartel (remember OPEC) or the Nihilists (remember the Shah) of Iran. The resultant spike in the costs of both money and oil doomed a Presidency which was founded on naivete.
See Lisa, some of us Americans are willing to look at mistakes, and to learn from them. Some, like howler monkeys, just make a lot of noise.

I watched the clip of Jimmy Carter. He is absolutely right about racism being the driving force of the "dislike" of President Obama. What else could it be? Nothing else makes sense. They don't trust him because they are convinced that a black man is incapable of running this country.

Well, Bush did two of those three (not the high-taxes one), and he was a white man, and there weren't all these teabagger types waving signs comparing him to Hitler and Stalin, so I guess you're right.

I am still waiting for him to make a statement about it .
I think being the president it is his responsibilty to speak out to all of us regarding this issue to bring us all together but I guess I can hold my breath waitng for that to ever happen.
I think Carter should be scolded publicly by him for race baiting.
It would do the counrty alot of good if we heard form our president on this issue that is driving a wedge between us.

Now he is accusing others of being racist just for criticising a man of mixed race. That is more racism from Carter, who surely would have made no such accusation about black people who criticise Obama or about people who criticised a white president.
