yes, a covenant

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., gave a speech to a crowd in Colorado about health care reform and said, “What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing. This will not pass. We’ll do whatever it takes to make sure this doesn’t pass.”

WHY?????

Why Michele? Why can't I have insurance like you? You see when my husband got laid off we lost our coverage, he was supposed to get a chest Ct-scan and now he can't. I take 2 prescriptions every day, do you know what that costs? Sure I could take the generic but I'm allergic to it, so out the door that argument goes. Do you know uninsured middle class Americans are one major health disaster away from bankruptcy? Do you take the time to talk with uninsured Americans and ask them what their fears are? Do you and your fellow repugs like lying to the American people? Because that's what you are doing everytime your face appears on TV or in public, LIES, LIES, LIES!

Every working American and their dependants have a right to health insurance. I am not talking about healthcare, ya know your old tired argument when you say no hospital will turn away a sick patient. See, those sick patients still get a bill from their hospital stay, and if they can't pay it then who does?

So Michele, you go right ahead and slit your wrists. Do it for me, do it for the good of the people!!

YEA, MICHELE!!!

Believe me you will never get the same plan congress gets.
I'd take congress's tax payer health care plan any day.
I would be all for it if they all had to have the same plan they want our taxpayer dollars to pay for that already pay for theirs. But I heard no democrats would be willing to sign on to a single payer system for themselves or their families.
I'd take Pelosi's 20 million dollar vineyard too and the Whithouse party that had $100 per ounce beef inmported from Japan.
Oh it's good to be the King!

Don't blame the Repugs. Blame your own state.

My friend's husband has been unemployed for 5 months. Since then he has had an EKG done, an echocardiogram, and today is having a CT scan done. All paid for 100% by our state system. He may have to have heart surgery done and that will be covered as well.

The biggest need is insurance and tort reform, but oh, congress left that out of the bill. Why? Because that would alienate all the trial lawyers. And what is congress made up of? Lawyers.

Something needs to be done. But not a plan that no one fully understands. He needs to slow down and listen to what we really want. It wouldn't even go into effect until 2012, so why rush it through?

I am appalled at what’s coming out of the mouths of Republicans in Congress. Senators like Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) and Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee) and, of course, Bachmann are sounding more like street-savvy butt wipes than the solons they should be.

As for the comment by “me” asking what’s the hurry, let’s just say for some, it’s a matter of life and death.

Do the naysayers realize there are people who put off going to doctors or emergency rooms until they are almost dead, because they don’t have the money to do so?

I believe what is lacking here is compassion, don’t you?

The music is great! I have a song request, if available, “Going Up the Country” by Canned Heat. Now, that would get my mojo going!

Lisa must not be paying attention.. I have heard several of them say they would be willing to sign on to it.. all that have been asked as a matter of fact.. or they state that if they could they will just give us they same option they have.. which is what the public option is.. the exchange they keep talking about.. but from the way she talks she must be a GOPer.. so facts really must not matter much to her...

Sue, I have given you an award.. please come get it when you can.. Thanks..

You stole my thunder, Sue! LOL! I was about to post on Michele's stupid comment (I will, still). But yes, goodness gracious, she is outperforming herself in the recent days.

Stunning. Just stunning.

Yes, she should slit her wrists -- though it's easy for her to recommend it, with the great health insurance she has.

Exactly.

I blame an economic model that treats medical care like it's any other commodity on the marketplace, like a stereo or automobile, and cares sless about people's lives than it does about making a buck, and a political system that enables the economic model to keep on doing what it's doing. It's despicable.

So what if some sign on. They are all rich thanks to the salaries they recieve via the taxpayers that they will be able to afford supplementary insurance unlike the rest of us who will not be able to due to the fact of the large chunk they will take from our income to pay for it.
Maybe they will even add an 18% sales tax like Canada has. Nothing is free. We will be paying one way or another. Look what happened to Massachusetts. Thy had to drop 30,00 "legal" immigrants from the healthcare rolls. Why? Because even "legal' immigrants don't pay income taxes.Who do you think will pay when we have to add 12 million?
As far as payng attention,I am very much paying attention. My question is are oyu or are you just falling in lock step because it "sounds" eutopian?
Of course they will say whatever they need to get people on boad. You now giive with one hand and take with the other.

Hi Lisa:

I am amused when people are against any new or existing government program they always assume/allege that every penny taken from their paychecks goes for THAT program.

Actually taxpayers benefit from a plethora of programs funded by their taxes.

Somewhere down in Sue’s blog is a little item titled “Joe the Plumber.” Go to the top of her blog and do a “search blog” on it. Worth reading!

Hope your day is good.

I will never understand republicans crying about their taxes. We have always paid taxes and always will so you might as well stop crying about it, good grief you big babies!! Public option will be included in this bill, if it isn't there would be no way of reducing skyrocketing costs, its so simple to understand, I'm baffled by the stupidity of American citizens to grasp this!! When President Obama speaks next week, I hope you will turn off your Ipods and LISTEN to him!

I know you all can't wait to pay more taxes. Maybe you don't pay all that much now.
In case nobody noticed we are in a recession and all this spending is adding to the deficit which will give us high inflation and what the heck let's throw Universal Health care and Cap and Trade into the mix. Like Rahm Emanuel says Let's not let a good crisis go to waste.

Then we can all barely make it and then we will need the government to support us. Isn't that like Venezuela that we are modeling after.
You know the saying about a government that is so big and can provide you with everything you need is powerful enough to take it away.
But you won't realize it until you actually feel it then there is no turning back.
A society can be controlled with health care and energy at least that is what is in the communist playbook if you know anything about it. Unless that's what you want then good for you for getting it.
The only "change" we have now is the money changers and who benefits from it. There is profit to be made in Universal Health care you know with lobbyists and all. Only this time the statists will decide who's pockets they line(I mean which one of their pockets get lined)As long as it's the politicians making the money because government-good/Insurance company-evil
Amazing how some people now trust the government all of a sudden. You think these people are any different?
Sue you heard of the CBo report didn't you that Universal Healthcare will actually cost more than now.Ithink they have a little bit better of a handle on it than you or I. I don't listen to talking points coming from the White House and take it as gospel.
But then again we never had God in the White House before.
